I just find it frustrating.... im just not a fan of text speak in general, its ignorant, and is dumbing down our language....
why cant the manners we use in everyday life be used online too? one day we will all be saying 'lol' instead of actually laughing at things!!

So basically you find anyone that uses "text speak" is ignorant, Woh you just insulted more than 75% of the funkypool/funkysnooker players in one sentence.
One day? I have heard people doing it already, it will never change at all to be fair, younger ones use it more now so they passing it on and on and on.

Fantastic grammar there matey. I love how most people have typed properly in this thread.

While using this forum, please adhere to a few simple rules and guidelines to enhance everybody's experience in this forum.
1. Please refrain from using text-speak. The language we use here is English and it costs no more to write the full words. Decent spelling and grammar shows that you have spent time on creating your post hence you have considered what you are saying.
This also allows all users to understand your post without having to translate it, and allows people who don't use English as their first language to be able to understand the threads.
2. Naming and shaming will not be tolerated under any circumstances and may lead to your posting rights being disabled.
3. Please avoid using any form of offensive or abusive language.
4. All clan threads should be named at least partially by their respective clan names.
5. If you are looking for a clan; then please use the clan waiting list located here - http://www.funkypool.com/thread/17412/players-waiting-on-a-clan-cont . Many clans are invitation only.
If you have clan related issues, please contact the league hosts.
If you have any forum related issues, please contact a Clan Chat forum moderator.

Thanks, but i don't need to be told what my grammar is like. I rarely use "text speak" while on the forum anyway.

I'll use "text speak" in the game basically due to some people leaving games so fast so instead of spending an extra 2 - 3 seconds typing the full words i will use the "gl" "gg" "ns" "ul" and so on. It's not exactly being rude now it is Stephen?

thats only on the forum though and everyone uses it so...
honestly whocares if you say 'gg' 'gl' etc its same thing as good luck and good game, most people understand it anyway so no issue.

i have a suggestion, ban ALL members who speak with just letters, for example 'gg' instead of saying, 'good game'..... Its really frustrating when you play a hard game against someone and congratulate them with 'Well done, good game', for them to reply 'ty ggs wd'..... i think we should take that little longer to speak to someone at the end of a game, its the equivalent of a hand shake at the end of a real game down the pub :)
Next time im playing on a real table, im gonna say 'gg, wd' and then walk off at the end to see what happens...

sorry, i was watching a film too.....and if i did speak, id probably speak properly!! my arguement isnt with people not speaking, its people dumbing down their language using shortened words and slang....
i joined this site in 2009, ive only just started actually posting on the threads and chatting to others in the chat rooms... my attempt of raising debate on something that annoys me hasnt really worked!!!, carry on 'lol'ing away as you where!!

As for using gg instead of good game etc, stephenball, I gotta say I can't agree with you. Everywhere on the internet, people use abbreviations in chat. Funkypool is no different in that respect.
