'Choosing the rank you play' is exactly why you cant have a ranking table founded on that principle.

What you appear to want (and forgive me if I am wrong) is a personal stat/achievement type site where you dont care what your achievements are in comparison to others but instead just want to do the best you possibly can. Thats fine. But in reality that exists no matter what the ranking system is. However from previous discussions the majority of members do (or at least did) want a site where they can compete against others to be the best and want to be able to compare themselves to others at any given time.

Paragraph two is also a completely personal thing. But a ranked tournament game or a friendly tournament game would be absolutely irrelevant to 99.9% of members in deciding how they would act in that situation. Flukes are part of any sport and to not accept them is a little strange - but again, each to their own.

basically yeah, i care more for breaks/runs than the rank itself but if i have a high rank like Original Snooker i tend to do it the easier way and pick and choose my opponent rather than risk losing 13 points in one frame

I have always hated flukes, id rather the opponent fluke than myself and if i fluke 2 or 3 times in succession then i feel like i don't deserve the frame.

anyways underneath you must agree that we have too many tournaments? even a ranked tournament every 2 hours would be better than 80+ tournaments a day we have currently including the micros.

So come up with a few ideas for new schedules then. And then we can discuss the merits of them. It will move the thread on in a positive fashion. Bearing in mind all the game types and all the variants of each though, it wont be easy.

theres 7 types so 2 of each (8Arc, 9Arc, 8US, 9US, 8UK, Straight, Random)

8Arc - Normal, Marathon
9Arc - Normal, Marathon
8US - Speed, Marathon
9US - Speed, Marathon
8UK - Speed, Marathon
Straight - Speed, Normal
Random - Speed, Normal

thats 14 so 2 of them would have to be on the hour somewhere.

And do away with the the other types?

an alternative would be a Speed, Normal and Marathon for everything that equals 21 tournaments so 3 of them would have to be a break time and with timezones it could rotate nicely.

micros need to go though as thats as good as choosing your opponent

And now sit back and wait for the complaining to start that, for example, there would only be 3 UK8 tournaments per day.

exactly one afternoon, one peak time, one late for those in america, australia etc could do that with them all including that break time too so things are evened out and with the rotating schedule each timezone would have a chance at the marathon

And what does everyone play in between times? Bearing in mind that it cant be ranked games the way they currently are.

just normal ranked games or with friends, or just use the time to rest your eyes or browse, basically its like a break time in college, what you do is up to you

You could win a load of tournaments in a row before and climb the ranks like duckie did in 8 ball to get a deserved decent virtuoso score.
As I said would happen letting newbies into tournaments has just encouraged more deactivating, resetting and 2nd accounts...people have got fed up with not being able to get anywhere, you have to beat the same people now but only get 0.6 a frame cos they have reset whereas before they would be deterred by having to wait to join tourneys.
People argued that numbers in tourneys would rise by letting 'newbies' into them..they haven't, they have dropped dramatically.
Also think that including arcade tournaments in the overall tourneys won table is a joke.

No, I do not think I'm the best, but I am better than my stats dictate.

Stats aside...
I don't mind playing games for fun.
I don' t mind losing if my opponent played better.
Losing to Newbies left right and center though...
...is wearing my patience down.

Occasionally, there will be a genuine Newbie with skills, fair enough, but not every game?
Seems I am incapable of beating Newbies. Regardless of how well I play. My imagination?

If it's a new scoring system, then surely all ranks should be scrubbed? Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the new system, but the game is very enjoyable with 2 genuine players.

Don't remove flukes completely, but definitely reduce the rate of flukes? A lot of players accuse me of being a fluke lol.
Even if I'm snookered, I put thought into the 'waste shot'.
Flukes are a part of the game, but rarely do you see flukes in the quantity they appear on Funkypool.
(Yh to me, FP is a variation of pool)

How can you fake or cheat your way to high rank?

I know people who have been at the top playing only newbies and people who have been at the top playing only higher ranked players. The formula that decides the amount of ranking points gained and lost evens these tasks out. For example, winning 8 games against a very low player being equal to 1 win against a high ranked opponent.

There is no-one on any all time leaderboard that is not deserving to be there.

Seriously, u can play noobs all u want, but u miss one shot u can lose...you have to be very good, simple..

Some used to lose on purpose etc. Some very sly ways but most got caught or whatever.
