Was no sarcasm until your post!!
But as useful as the search function is - so is the ability to receive messages in your e-mail inbox without logging in. No one says you have to reply straight away but to have numerous posts saying there was no point replying as the opponent was offline is just ignoring that fact.
As for your cause to effect - unfortunately we will never know as it wasnt given a chance to happen.

"or do your players now have clairvoyant skills in addition to undoubted pool ability to know that there is no point replying because the opponent wont log back in during the period?"
Telling me that isn't sarcasm???
And you seem to be labouring under some apprehension that, had the player logged back in, I wouldn't have sent a message. This is jumping to a conclusion and completely unjustified.
As to the claim about an email inbox, I'm pretty sure, although I'm not going looking, that the player was tagged in a post in that time. If they had been wanting to get the game played, they may have realised that was something to do with it and come online. I'm fairly sure that message alerts and tagging notifications are sent to the same email address.
Seems to be fairly simple, a player offline for 2 days isn't going to be trying to play games, irrespective of messages.

Yeah but you know from being on the snooker defaults team that not sending a message harms your default score
To the defaults panel, it just looks like you didn't bother answering.

From being on the snooker defaults team, I know it doesnt make a blind bit of difference if a message is sent or not if the opponent isn't online to read it...

No that wasnt sarcasm - that was (attempted) friendly humour!!
Adam you are missing the point that no one can make an assumption on what you would or would not have done if the player had logged in. Can only base it what you did or did not do. A player sending a message does indicate an intention to play.
The fact is there are enough negatives from 'your' actions throughout the two weeks to limit your score to one point.
As there was with our actions - we could easily have scored 1 point - we could both have easily scored zero points.
It seems we are getting bogged down with a team 'losing' a default when in fact a) what the opponent scores is irrelevant and b) even some of your own team think one point was fair.

But being offline for 6 days of a fixture increases your default score
Who said that defaults were a joke

20:55 Sun 27 May 12 (BST) [Link] Not true! If one side doesn't send messages, they won't get the full 6, even if the opponent is offline 10 days.

You say that no-one can make assumptions, yet you are making the assumption that, by waiting to reply to a message, this is indicating an unwillingness to play. Personally, I think being offline for long periods of time is more of an indication of that!

Thats good as adam sent a message so at least he ticked that box

Would get a vote of 6-0 for me. If a player is off for the whole fixture, then if the other player has been online, they lose 6-0 irrespective of messages.

Hate to see a world run by MVP everyone clocking in at work once a day, standing around for 5 minutes, not acknowledging anyone and clocking back out again then expecting full wages at the end of each fortnight...chaos
(nothing thinnly veiled in that sarcasm by the way )

Seems better than a world where you randomly don't come into work for 5 days but get paid twice as much as someone who is in every day .

Guarantee lilmisscragg spent more time on funkypool than you did over the fortnght though adam and whilst you were on snooker on saturday chris was on here all day. Could quite easily have logged in here instead.
Plus what good is it you being on here everyday if you aren't in the game server and not replying to messages then you aren't approachable to play a game are you?

Except that it's my job to be spending time on snooker, especially when I believe there were no other mods on at the time (cos I got bugged with loads of pointless messages).

If funkysnooker would fall apart without you then I hope Nick is paying you well.
You weren't active on here, you didn't respond to messages to try and arrange the game, you chose to play on funkysnooker instead of coming on here to do your clan game...1 point is generous
People can turn the focus onto the activity of your opponent all they like but their few days worth of efforts to get the game done in the fortnight was a few days more than you managed.
Top clan players on here like nath and gentle_giant never active but as soon as they got games arranged them by message and boom they were on and played, if you aren't playing on here regularly then arrange your games by message for when you can be...simple

I dont want to reply anymore Keith, because unfortunately you appear to say whatever you like, the sarcasm you use and the way you question the FBL staffs ability again is unwarranted.
We are not here to make you happy Keith, league staff do their jobs to the best of their ability, there are over 160 players in the FBL, your conduct on this matter leaves a lot to be desired, if you are so unhappy with the FBL and in your opinion biased attitudes against MVP on this occasion and the leagues inability to do a simple default
i will say this one more time, you have a simple choice to make. You can address any questions to the league staff, but when you read your posts and the sarcasm used which was totally unrelated to the default concerned, they left a lot to be desired, what i will say if there is anymore criticism about the FBL staff , you will have that choice removed.
this really is the final comment on this topic

but you did not reply to her messages and you sent none to her
all captains of every team ask you arrange your games and send messages to your opponent

I really have better things to be doing that debating this with people who can't see that it doesn't matter how many messages are sent, if the other player is offline for 5 days then the game can't be played. If the default system here really is just a case of box ticking as opposed to people taking a reasoned look at things, then no wonder issues arise.
