Just to confirm pirate_steve's post, the 1/1/14 deadline was only a provisional one. At present there is plenty of time left to get both this and The Players Championship Final completed.

It looks like most of January is free at present so there's plenty of time to get a proper outcome.

No discussion thread so will post it here
FCL format is perfect as is would like to see the other 2 leagues tweaked so you have 3 totally different leagues, my suggestion for it would be
Super League
3 frames of each 8 ball, 9 ball and UK 1pt for each + 1 frame of straight 2 pts would make it interesting as it's only the odd 10 players in the league who are straight demons most games would be really fun and even if you get a demon it's only 1 frame to watch them potting.
Liked the format with the way the league goes into knockout adds a good twist.
FBL
The usual 2 x 8 games of 8 ball, 9 ball and UK + a 6 man killer with 2 frames played
1st 5 pts
2nd 2 pts
3rd 1 pt
Making 8 pts available in each frame of killer exactly the same as all the other games and any result possible, subs could be made between games if needed but do the 2 frames consecutively so you aren't having to organise 2 games.
Think now the seasons are finishing it would be great to get the 3 leagues formats sorted out so they compliment each other and are all totally different and aren't competing.

I don't like the idea of odd numbers of frames in games with bonuses, either two or four of each. That way there are an even number of opportunities for players to score bonuses.
Straight I would also not be in favour of for the format of SL. It's supposed to be a "lite" competition. Meaning lower amount of frames, shorter match length and every point up for grabs. Straight is largely a specialist type which doesn't fit in with the super league format
I think the format of the competitions are fine, the length and scheduling are what I think needs tweaking and better arranging

The format is just the same as FCL except less frames and a nothing 4 man killer randomly added that doesn't fit in at all.
Straight fits perfectly as you get bonuses for run outs and gbs in the other types...30 run another recorded event that could be rewarded too.
As I said there aren't many specialist straight players, 90% of the games would just be a fun frame and if you do get a great player it's only 1 frame.

You're mixing the two in, FBL has the same format , SL has killer (based on last season).
FBL is a specialist league type though, one type per player not all round. FCL is multi-discipline and an all rounder approach. They are two different leagues. SL fits killer because it is independent of the individual games and isn't an add on which lengthens a match. Straight would have to have 2 frames to keep bonus opportunities equal.
There aren't that many but that still doesn't change the fact that there are, certain matches would just end up with the same players winning and I bet the majority of players don't want straight as a compulsory game. It's in FBL and that's enough for most.

The season before SL had no killer and FBL had killer, the way it makes sense.
Don't think you can speak for other people, just stick to yourself.
Straight is really popular since the tables were changed, definitely not a specialist game any more so than any of the other types.
Straight wouldn't have to have 2 frames to keep the bonus opportunities the same, you both have a chance at a 30 run whoever breaks.
You should have 3 totally unique formats that make sense and we don't have that this way.
2x2 killers have been really unpopular this season in super league.

Killer fits SL perfectly. It's been a success and a great addition to the league. Games have been more fun and a 2 v 2 killer is just right . For FBL a longer or bigger killer match makes sense to fit in with the format but it doesn't make more sense in FBL otherwise it would be in that and not SL
I speak from knowledge of talking to players and past discussions and how difficult it can be to get a sub for a straight match when players just aren't willing.
You could argue it is more specialist since the runs are getting bigger, there's a few more specialists and a huge gulf between those players and the ordinary ones which isn't really existent for other types specifically (that isn't players good at one type, not just all round quality).
In SL format both players are capable of bonuses within the same game type. That's just not possible in one frame of straight and would just further distort a game towards a specialist who could smash the pack on the first shot after the break then bag a 40 run and get 2-0 with no chance of a return if favour. Straight just doesn't fit in at all, keep it in the longer format leagues.
How can you say I can only speak for myself then in the same post say 2 v 2 is unpopular. That's exactly what I did :s anyway from speaking to players and playing in games I wouldn't say it's unpopular. It's more popular than straight.

Killer is much better for SL than for the FBL.
I would change it to allow for more players than 2v2 if the teams involved want that. Make it 2v2 or more. There were a few occasions this season where both teams were willing to play 3v3 or more and we weren't allowed to.
2v2 is a very good format for getting the games played, but the option should be there if the teams involved want to use more players.

If the option for more is there, the scoring system would still have to remain the same? If so, I can't see why that should be a problem, until you get the better clans coming up against the not so good clans who will try and use it to their advantage to take 3 placed spots (i.e. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place). Might end up causing rows with some of the clans on here..

Killer in FBL has ben tried before and didnt seem to work.As it was 2 hard to get the players all on at same time.I think killer should be left out of FBL.As the old saying goes if it aint broke dont fix it LOL.

Super League V
After the successful SL4 competition, the format for Super League V is expected to be largely unchanged. The Players Championship will again run alongside.
At present the plan is to kick off the competition on Friday 7th February.
If you are interested in taking part please can you post here - including whether you plan to have one or two participating teams.

I like the idea of adding a straight game, don't see the problem with playing just one, considering you can't pot on the break, every game starts off with a safety battle (or a smash which could just as easily leave the other guy on for a run)
Could give 1 or 2 points for the win, a bonus point for 30+
Hope you consider it chris (for league and player's championship), it would take some of the luck out of this knockout format.
I also think player's championship should play 4 of each like the league does (decider in case of a tie). Make an equal opportunity for bonuses (with 3 of each, one player can get 6 breaks out of 9)
