Good point I guess therev, but it was included in this seasons individual league and I don't think anyone has requested it to be included in FCL?

It will never get included in FCL so I guess letting the straight players have it in the individuals means they still get some league competitiveness for that game type.

As red4ever said tho there is an EVENTS thread for people to start a straight league or cup event

i just dont see point in people adding game types to the individuals that arent included in the FCL league or cup format

i wasnt around wen this got discussed last season then as i would have opposed the idea as it aint in the league or cup format

You dont have to enter it if you really really dont want to - simply post when the option is there to say you dont want in.

Alternatively just do absolutely nothing at all. Your name goes in the draw but if you dont want to play then dont - easy as that. There is no negative connotation on anyone choosing not to play the game. This a game site not a concentration camp.

There are a huge majority of players who never post. Maybe some of them would enjoy playing a game in a tournament if they dont have to do anything other than play. Even if that applies to only one player then thats a good enough reason in itself. Anyone that would take time to post saying they want to take part will take part anyway.



Its actually easier - anyone that doesnt play is an automatic DQ. Anyone that doesnt play but wants to carry on to the next round can request a default review. Simple process with a quick decision.



As above, nothing wrong with anyone opting out at all.

Again, for the third time, there is no reason why a Cup and a League cannot run side by side. The Cup is a stand alone competition. It gets completed even if it has to have default knockouts. Eventually though you will end up with players keen to take part and hopefully it will be a fair few.

And finally a Knock Out Cup gives you a true indivdual winner who has won a competition involving all players from all clans and all of the FCL game types. An all rounder title if you like and an extension to the Golden Cue which is limited to opponents in your own division and none in your own clan.

if its my idea implemented then it stays, if its chris's then im guessing its out but up to him.

hasn't done any harm having it in this season nor do i see any harm in the future as long as its not involved in the main competition (same with Arcade if people really wanted it)

I am just trying to think of the amount of work that James would have to do, every players name has to be noted down and kept tabs on, at least if people entered it willingly, he would only need to take the names down of those interested in playing rather than the entire league?

Straight is a very marmite game, people either love it or hate it. This is understandable as it is a longer game and it is much more difficult to beat a better player in straight than it is in the other games. Thus we get the polarized result that those who can't play it don't like it as they will probably lose, and those that can play it do like it because they know they can beat people. It just seems odd that those who don't like it are opposed to it being in a competition that doesn't actually require them to play it...

Regarding the person who asked how the default panel is going to work though..... I have asked for people interested from each team that is in the league next season to send an application so to speak to me about the default panel.

That is it just now as far as i can remember, this will be done closer to the new season anyway just to be sure as some may change there current clan. The division that they will be making decisions on will also be changed when we work out the divisions next season

Although i see both sides, i think the straight should stay as its already in and rapid_pot does make a valid point, you are not being forced to play it.

Still like James individuals idea, the format in which he sent me looks good to me

my arguement is rapid, it aint in the FCL league or cup competitions so why should it be in the individual one?

If you wana play straight so much why dont ya create a league or cup on the EVENTS tab that is what it is there for aint it?

We should keep it to the formats that are in the FCL league and cup that is US8, US8 and UK8 but then again its only my opinion and it aint up to me to decide im just putting my view across as it aint in the formats that are played in the league or cup

No more work involved than already goes into the FCL. All the names go into a random draw program so that is easy. I could just post the page with the draw on, however I wont I will put matches onto individual clan threads (that is going to be the most arduous part but not too bad).

No need to keep tabs on everyone. As I said if you dont play you expect to be DQ'd. Either or both player also has the option to request a default review. That will be a simple decision based on the information provided and the evidence available. The decision will either be one player wins by default or both get DQ'd. It has to be a simple quick decision due to time constraints. Some will inevitably disagree with any decision made but that is a fact of life we are coming to terms with here.


PS Why are we even discussing Straight Individual Leagues? If you dont want to play in it then dont. Is that such a hard concept? Arguments are being created that dont even exist.

its already in and had no complaints until now and its like 80% through the season.

i dislike 9 ball, i can opt to get rid of that next season individuals? thought so your not being forced to play Straight you get to choose what type you want. If people like Straight why shouldn't it stay? because its not in the main competition isn't a good answer in my book.

I don't see an issue with Straight being in the individuals, it has had a good turn out this season i think . Aslong as it stayed in the individual league i see no problem with it.
