From my own point of view I used to be able to play more tourneys than I can now, I would play all the hourlys except straight.
Tournaments have doubled but i find arcade ridiculous and never classed it as a proper game and then there are the 14 friendlies that nobody plays.
The marathons and speed are on the half past schedule so I always miss them through being in a tourney cos everything clashes.

Your first point is completely moronic, but the other point you make is solved by another thread:
http://www.funkypool.com/thread/17231/new-tournament-competition-big-update/26
Dgen: "an idea then...
Speed/Micro - 10 points per entry
Normal - keep at 20
Marathon - put to 30 or 40"
Nick: "I agree.
One thing is though, TournaPoints need to be in multiples of 20 per entry to ensure that there is no fraction amount of points given (of course it could round up / down to nearest point).
So it might be best to choose proportions as dgeneratio said, but doubled:
Speed/micro: 20
Normal: 40
Marathon: 60 "
This should persuade those seeking the day event win to enter the big tourneys rather than the micros.

I think we all know that this ipotalot is a douche and if micros arent to go then you should at least lower the tournapoints you win. If you entered 2 micros and won them both for 10 hours then you could easily win the tournapoints day event without even playing a proper tourny.

This is how i see it. I dont mind the friendlies cause it gives me a chance to have a competitive warm up and most of the time people who want to play the proper tournaments will already be in one. I think if nick goes ahead with the plan to put a separate column for friendly tournaments then it will give newbies and such like more of a reason to play in them, which means there will be more entries hence we will see friendlies become fuller

Different debate but i dont agree with putting them on profiles cos as we've seen most friendlies are empty and early hours micros are

correct me if I'm wrong which am sure ya will lol, but are friendlies not included in yer tourny wins?????

it's just that the winners are listed in Tournament page with ranked tournies.

I haven't read most of the thread, but I've just come back after not playing for a few months. Due to being a "newbie" on the Arcade games, no one wants to play me in the ranked games, so the friendly tournaments are the only real way I can see what the Arcade games are like. Take that away and I'll struggle to ever get rid of the newbie tag.

Don't you have to play ranked to lose your newbie tag though?

Seen you about Wcfa, I been gone so long though
I think you just have to play 100 games to lose your newbie tag. But maybe it's changed since I left.

Since I've not seen any other reply to this to the contrary, I presume that friendly tournament games do not count towards removing Newbie status.
Would it not be worth making it so that they do so, as it makes it easier for one to get rid of their newbie status. As Yoda pointed out, a lot of people will avoid newbies in normal ranked games and with the site being dominated by tournaments, finding ranked games with players around your rank who will play you are harder to come by.

I like that idea Vi. I'm still newbie in both Arcade so it is a bit annoying.
I realize I was wrong as well about losing newbie status - indeed it is 50 ranked games, I thought it was just 100 games. My bad.
