i can see why people keep resetting, with this ranking system there isnt much point in trying to better your rank.

Did you lose your "Newbie" status after the first match? Ranking points for Non-newbies playing Newbies is different, you gain and lose less points.

please explain the ranking points here for two consequentive games....
RESULT: Straight Pool Ranked - warcriminal (1) 50-10 (0) squarebit
RANKINGS: warcriminal 700.3 (+2.6), squarebit 674.8 (-2.6)
RESULT: Straight Pool Ranked - warcriminal (2) 49-8 (0) squarebit
RANKINGS: warcriminal 700.6 (+0.3), squarebit 672.3 (-2.5)
It looks like a random scoring system to me!
I.e gain of 2.3 1st game and gain of 0.3 in 2nd game?

That is exactly what has happened. The first ranked game was when you both were newbies, and because you both were, the newbie modification does not apply for that game. However, in the 2nd game, you didn't have newbie status as you just lost it last frame. This in turn brings the newbie modification rule into the outcome of the rank and reduces the amount of rank you win.

Does seem like less people holding pro ranks than ever, a few months ago you had to get 820ish to be in the top 50 now you've only got about 40 pros in each category.
Suppose to be pro though you should have to be really consistent

9ball billiards has probably suffered the most, but generally they have gone down, the highest ranks are going to be incredibly hard to touch.
I think the ranking scales may need to be put higher in order for them maximum ranks to actually be justified.

I donnt think the maximum rankings are that much harder to hit, i managed to get to 940 in 8US just by playing tournys. Thats all you have to do

how long does it take to update highest rank tables, some people havent played for months-they've either got multi accounts or just given up on the place so why not delete the accounts?

why delete the accounts when they may choose to come back to them i highly doubt they have got multi accounts as everyone knows it is against the rules .. maybe they are actually busy in real life at the minute and cant get on ? afterall this is only an internet site.

I dont agree with deleting accounts , but some of the top 10 in UK do have multiple accounts and she plays herself on them to gain rank , hard to prove but its a fact !!

yes but why achieve the rank then not bother playing again for months? Seems strange to avoid playing a game they loved that much to get on the table.

That's why the daily point reduction is in place

Anybody ranked over 750 loses 0.5 points a day so if they are offline for months their points keep dropping so no need to delete accounts.

no you are wrong, highest rank table doesnt decrease.

depends on highest rank...
destiny on snooker is 990 in original so lowest he could drop to without playing is around 800-850
tiimmmyy in carom has about 850 highest and lowest he has dropped to is around 770
depends on what your highest rank is to minimum rank you can drop to without playing.

either way Why delete accounts when it could be a case you have something in real life that is far more important take michaelg for example if he go to virt now on 9ball ... knowing he is going to be a father and he leaves the site for months .. would you still complain that he hasnt been here to defend his rank and he is taking up space ? even though he is obviously not on the site due to personal reason ... you have to remember this is a site people choose to play and that people do have a life also.

im talking about the highest rank(top right),its unfair that they get to stay there without playing in 9months-if you dont play within say 4months id delete accounts if i was in charge
