LOL bill, thing is with that if you do get a user who purposefully plays 100 games and has a low rank, then enters a tourny and hustles all the top players, the top player is gonna lose a fair few points. I do like this idea it just should be thought about a bit more like you should gain points for how far you reach in the tourny?

If you look back through the dozens, possibly way more, threads debating this you will see that the only way it can be done without a seperate rank is to have the games ranked as normal.

In fact I doubt any update has ever been more thought about and debated, apart from maybe the removal of the 3 ball rule.

The fact is it is an option, and one that over time will go a little way to help to level out the ranking tables since it eliminates the ability to choose opponents.

For the average player, in an average tourney, you will gain more points the further you go. For example even i you only gain 3 points per win, in a normal tourney thats 6 points per round, so winning a tourney of 4 rounds plus a final gives you 30 more points than you started with, 24 if you make the semis etc.

New upgraded UK table is simply a cleaned off cushion effect on the Blue table

To avoid any arguments over which game type is used first, the first ranked event will be tonights 9pm Random Multi Discipline Tournament.

http://www.funkypool.com/tournaments/43281

Assuming all goes well we will try each of the disciplines at varying times over the next few days.

Can we argue about what game type is next after random?

Looking forward to this... Yes that's how sad my life has become.

Congrats to dark_angel who won the tournament and a total of 14.2 rank points. (9.3 8Ball, 3.0 9Ball and 1.9 UK8)

Well, all went well so a random selection of individual tournaments will be made ranked over the next couple of days.

Any feedback welcome here regarding timings, quantities, types etc. Do remember the tournaey all rotate now so its relative time I mean, not time of day as that will change.

Can't say I like this idea either tbh...sucks for someone who plays just tournys, comes on, and sees that the next tourny is ranked...I'd be one of those so I guess my opinion is biased but still, there's ranked games available for those that wanna play ranked, tournaments should just be in my opinion.

If you just play tourneys, what difference does it make if they're ranked or not?

A lot of people like to choose the rank they play , its lucky dip in the ranked tourney who you play , me personally i like to play the tourney because they arnt ranked .

I agree with chaos especially if u draw a pro or virt newbie who has just reset or changed account......

The game is then 50-50 chance of winning however I would get 0.3 ish for winning against 675 n00b and the n00b would get 7 - 9pts for winning and I would lose 5 pts ish....

Tournies are tournies and ranked is ranked - let's keep it that way, altho don't mind occasionally ranked tournies for those that want them.....

_k1rk_ would be a good example of the above - he often resets but is one of the top players on here. Not a dig k1rk just using you as example......

So let's say we were to meet in a str8 final ranked..... and he has done one of his regular resets....

I would lose out big time if I lost final in ranked pts terms.

The ranking pts should reflect the true ability of the opponent by using their best ranking (less 5%) in that game format recorded on their current account. Now if someone resets their best previous ranking should be held within their account and then used for ranked tournie calcs....

Hope this make sense

I Dont know about you guys, but i think its a new fun add-on to the game, it allows a gamble whilst playing tournaments and something to win for instead of just joining and not caring if you lose.

I think only 1 in each type a day though and then none in the straight type.

although i agree that there should be points awarded and lost on the basis of how far in the tournament you got.. not on the rank of your opponent which you cannot choose.

99 people joined last night In my eyes that is a success, chances are the further you get the more you win even if you lose the final to a newbie then there are certain rules in place in the ranking system to make sure you don't lose massive amounts. I loved the tournament last night as did everyone I spoke to about it and personally can't wait for more. Also I believe it will get those people who just play low ranks to play higher ranks to to show their true potential.

spoonie why do you say don't have it in straight? If it is.alright for one game type its alright for the rest.
