.... a second rate football team that is ranked in, or around, the top 10 and in the last 16 of the World Cup having not played very well...
....wish mine was a second rate team then !!!
I for one support all the British teams, in international and european competition, always have and always will (even Man U in the Champions League and I cant stand them usually ) - good luck to England

Wonder if playing Germany will be best thing for us. The pressure is off against them because nobody will expect England to boss this next game like they were meant to in the last three.

Miles out in my opinion.
England will be slight favorites to win going into the game around the globe I think. Germany are not anything special, people wrote them off long before they did England.

Really?? Even though Germany get to every other final and England have done nothing for half a century? If you really think thats true, England must get hyped up with false expectations even more in Wales than they do in England. Or is that just an early put down in case we win. I think it was the latter

Well both team so far haven't had the best of games but looking at form although play is pretty even, England are the unbeaten team so far whereas the Germans have lost
The German side is a threat, but is a very young side and so with the potential held in the England players and the fact that they look better (and are expected to improve against better opposition) means that a lot of people would consider England favourites (the only england goal conceded was a naff shot with was fluffed by the keeper who has been replaced)

I personally think previous games mean nothing when it comes to England vs Germany, it's a whole new game every time we play each other.
It's just one of them big rivalry games where anything will happen!

I can see your point, and I agree that player for player, England may have slightly the better side but Germany are the better TEAM as usual. The German loss was a freak due to an unfair sending off and they still looked good in that game.
It'll be a good game I think but I don't see us as favorites and neither do the bookies. But I still think we'll win it

Prefer to be underdogs
more chance of being underrated
Although i do think the Germans will go in with exactly the same mentality meaning this *hopefully* should be the game of the tournament so far
Remember, performance matters, but the scoreline is the all important thing, not being beaten helps

Honestly. Only the English, as they have finally realised they are not as good as they made themselves out to be before the tournament started, will have Germany down as favorites.
Germany were no hopers going into the tournament, England would not shush themselves. I mean, play back the commentary and all the advertisements from the first couple of days of the tournament. Looking back now, I would bet it is cringing for most. But then you can't really blame such a passionate footballing country to have such blind optimism, we have it over here with rugger.
As to them being built up in Wales. People couldn't give a rats backside over here, we don't care about our own football team, do you really think we care about yours? Have to laugh as it is funny when English fans and media try to make it out that people really care here (there are a fair few who care, but they are mainly English supporters mind) Most are a lot more concerned about avoiding total humiliation tomorrow morning, which is more than evident when you come here.

I've got England to win 1-0 after extra time.
The tournament is mirroring 1990 at the moment
Draw opening game 1-1 (Ireland in 1990, USA in 2010)
Draw second game 0-0 (Netherlands in 1990, Algeria in 2010)
Win last group game 1-0 (Egypt 1990, Slovenia in 2010)
Win second round 1-0 aet against a team that has flag colours of black, yellow and red (Belgium in 1990, Germany in 2010?)

lol, the best one was the big booming voice going ONE WORLD CUP, ONE SUMMER, ONE GOAL.......and for a while it looked true and the ONE GOAL was all we'd be getting.
No I was being sarcastic. We know Scots, Welsh etc support anyone but England in tournaments, because your own lads never have much to do in the summer
