I have the same opinion about the forum - nothing wrong with it. If it aint broke dont fix it.

I would imagine the forum may have had a re-design by now if it was in the firing line.

Think you misread me there flumpy.

The forum desperately needs to be replaced with a modern forum system - especially if we are to keep running different non-embedded leagues here on FP.

What I wrote was that I don't keep high hopes of that ever happening - despite a huge need.

This is not the place for that debate tho.

I think the white background on the inverse themes is a little too bright.

I liked the old pastel themes better.

The colours for background, post area background and the site background are the exact same colours and brightness as before. The only change is the bit of colour surrounding the player name and post details.

Crazzymadman, thanks, refresh the page and it should be better.

Still half a character short on his name - using FF3.5

As for the bright background colours - despite being the same RGB values you used before you might want to tone them down a notch.

The surrounding environment affects how a given colour is perceived, and while a bright colour in a bright environment may work fine, the very same colour can cause a contrast problem when used in darker surroundings.

Works for me in FF3.5 - refresh as the stylesheet was updated though.

Nope, the colours are exactly the same - even the background.

That being said, would it be possible to bring back the previous pastel themes that were not inverted?

as nick usualy says to these, im not sure if he'll say it again or not, but sometimes its too hard for him to have both kinds, e.g people wanted old and new server which would've been to hard, however he may be able to find a way to make the pastel themes be re-introduced without to much hastle.

You misunderstand Nick. No one (at least not me) says the colour is different. I'm just pointing out that the same colour is PERCEIVED differently when the ambient environment is changed. One and the same colour can be fine in one case and bad in another.

Let me elaborate some more:

There are now far larger parts of the screen covered with the blue/violet ambient background colour than was the case on the old site layout. In short, more of the violet background (even tho it's the same colour as before) means the brighter background found on the forum part of the page stands out more - or a higher level of contrast if you will - even if not a single colour has changed from the original scheme

Ohhh ive just noticed on profile page it doesnt tell you the last log in date of X like it used to! Though it now says 'offlline since' instead.
*Sighs* I know it wont happen but i wished the whole layout of the forums could be reversed

EDIT by nick: quoting yourself to repeat text in the same thread is spamming, please don't do it.

There were quotes in that post from Vicacious and Janmb which i thought were related to something id asked you previously..to which i never got a reply hence quoting myself again hoping for an answer, but, oh well, sorry, no more quoting meself :D

Anyway, ive logged on and whatever youv'e done to the colours gets a thumbs up from me, im using the pastel blue and it looks like the old forum. Way way better

Well, as long as Paula is a happy bunny, aren't we all?

And yeah I tend to get pretty passionate when discussing topics that are so close to my own field of expertise - no denying that :)

Can we have a discussion about Tetris then?
That's my field of expertise

Back on topic - I've become accustomed to the Blue layout and it's doing me just fine, would like to see the first pastel themes back though.
