Just used janmb's profile as an example...
The "about me" section just doesn't quite fit in i think. Could do with a background box to fit in with the rest. Plus if you look there is a faint line at the bottom of the section which i know means that's the end of the "about me" section, but doesn't look good IMO.

Is that like the layout where we can move stuff around like on the BBC homepage
or
Where we can choose are own colours for on any page like for example with the forum, the background black, first post green, second in blue and so on?

I am also considering allowing user defined schemes.

More or less the latter I believe. A colour scheme is basically the configuration of which elements use what colour(s) - so basically users would be able to choose which colour for background, post backgrounds, text colours etc etc
Making the page elements dynamic and/or relocatable is a whole different ball game that takes a lot more work and I doubt that's what Nick had in mind.
(I still keep a slim hope of seeing the forum system replaced sometime in the future though)

I dont think there is anything wrong with the about me section - its easy to read and thats all that needs to be there. I think a box will do nothing or make it look better.

I have the same opinion about the forum - nothing wrong with it. If it aint broke dont fix it.
I would imagine the forum may have had a re-design by now if it was in the firing line.

Ohhh ive just noticed on profile page it doesnt tell you the last log in date of X like it used to! Though it now says 'offlline since' instead.
*Sighs* I know it wont happen but i wished the whole layout of the forums could be reversed

EDIT by nick: quoting yourself to repeat text in the same thread is spamming, please don't do it.

Poem for Nick
Funky has changed an awful lot
People logged in and thought 'Oh what'!
Colours were bold, brassy and bright
This time the revamp just isnt right :(
The forums could of remained the same
With changes only made to the game
Or change it slighty to save server space
That way nothing is too 'in ya face' :P
Im only one member so you wont care
But Nick reverse forums, if you dare
A smart man you are, nobodys fool
Just please bring back the old funkypool
~Paula~ :P

good poem, but i like how it is now, you cant keep to the same stuff constantly or it becomes boring, maybe he might change it back in a few months/years as it then will look new, but for now this is perfecto

I agree Matt, but where did anyone say the old one was boring or ask for the forums to be changed? It looked way way better/neater/professional before
:)

That has to be one of the most negative phrases in the english language - I hate it
If everyone applied that principle god knows what our lives would be like nowadays
Overall I think the changes have been very refreshing and I am sure will improve even further over the next few patches.
As others have said, and Nick himself recognised, the smilies need some serious work and I think the Players search feature could be a little bit more user friendly.
Does anyone know what the 'Share' heading is going to be for? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but may have missed it.

am currently unsure, but i am guessing its passing it onto people via msn messages etc etc, i will look into it now.
paula, yes the other one did look smart, but it was boring, not enough appeal to the eye, the new adaption improves eye appeal and if as nick as mentioned you can tweak it to your own standards with more colours, people will not complain as much due to its there own standards they'd then be moaning about.

scrap that idea, it seems to be just a place where people have book marked decent websites such as facebook etc etc so it is easyier to get on them without having to leave funkypool

I think it must be either my old PC or IE6 then because on here the 'Share' heading does nothing whilst on a laptop it brings up bookmarks like you say.
Also on the laptop you can highlight and overtype names in the player search which I can't do on the PC and the smilies also look OK.
I am still too tight to go out and get a new PC though while this one is working OK

I didn't wanna create a new thread because I'm presuming it's something to do with the new layout...but yeah I can't log in for some reason! When I go to click the play button, nothing happens. Also when I click spoilers on the forum I'm getting all sorts of crazy error messages. I'm using firefox, and always have. It was happening somewhere else too on the help page, when I clicked a link nothing was happening...ah yes, the "why doesn't the game window open" link...BUT when I do click that, the link in the address bar goes to "http://www.funkypool.com/help#pop_up_blocker"...I've never had any pop-up blockers that I am aware of. Help
Edit: I just tried to click on all the links in the help section and none would work

OK, Some new inverted schemes have been added with similar colours as before ie black on white background (though they may need further refinements).
In addition the reported problems have been fixed (player about me, moderator list).
Niall, I've tested on IE6 (and just retested the problems you detailed). Where we don't fully support IE6 on the site it should only affect the alternative colour schemes. If you refresh the page (control f5) it should load the content again. It sounds like your browser didn't manage to download the Javascript files successfully.
