Has anyone noticed that the cue power is different? I'm having a hard time putting a decent amount of power behind the balls. Is there an option to change it

in relation to people picking and choosing who to play... nobody likes to lose games for ranking points nevermind bringing money into the equation.

from a personal point of view, as a daily gambler across many sports, i am obviously gonna pick who im going to play, if i am going to play somebody i know is going to hammer me off the table i am not going to put money on the line for the pleasure. thats equivical to me backing a team at 5 nil down with 5 mins to go to win 6-5.

He won't be since he's too young

Besides, unless people are prevented from choosing opponents, we won't get games anyway.

for example would i play you on that after seeing your stats on here?? no way, well maybe, but the idea of gambling is to win money, nobody bets on something they know isnt going to win or doesnt stand a good chance of winning.

and for nick, i think it would be illegal to not have some measures in place to prevent underage gambling. i dont know the ins and outs of the laws and im sure you have checked and all that. and what about gamers from the american states where it is illegal to gamble

Well there's only so much he can do, there are always ways around any measure he can take because it is online - parent's card, fake DOB, etc - yet obviously other sites allow gambling so why not killerpool? With different ages, they usually put in a clause about minimum age 18 or the applicable age in your state/country. If you break the law and get caught it's your fault, it's not nick's responsibility

I dislike the idea of playing pool online for money, I most likely won't play. I haven't even checked it out yet! I have enough problems with gambling as it is, I don't need any more . I used to like the idea of funkypool having a gambling side to it, but I think it's a pretty dangerous thing to add. There's people who fancy themselves on here who are simply no good, and there's the danger they could lose a lot of money playing on this. It's not like your everyday bookmaker gambling, where you occasionally get lucky and win - there's people on here who could play countless times and never win, and that's not good! Weekly limits would be wise, but I don't know the legality of such restrictions on gambling sites. For me, there are more than enough pool sites where you can gamble your money on a few games...I don't think funkypool needs it, and I also don't think, and kinda hope, that it doesn't get off the ground in terms of popularity. I reckon it will be the same few people playing it over and over anyway, and if nick is happy to support those few, so be it!

A weighted system won't happen on a gambling site. Never seen anything remotely resembling that anyway.

You could easily make a few parallel, different queues tho, with maximum and minimum limits of "rank", which in this case would probably have to be measured in terms of total earnings.

It's a beta.

Some elements will probably be added, some will intentionally be left out.

Hence the reason it's an entirely separate site, on which you dont have to play for money - as there is a play money option.

On a 'business' side of things, I whole-heartedly agree with it - after all "a mans got to make his bread"!

Also, adds a little more fun to things IMO. Those with 'gambling issues' should seek professional help, as it really isn't the sites that provide the gambling options' fault.

When it opens, let us all gamble responsibly! (and take all of spinners money )

Having read the majority of posts on here and on the thread on snooker I cant see how Nick is going to make any money because everyone is convinced they are going to win!!

Regarding the morality of gambling it's out of the scope of this thread - it will not take place on funkypool. Obviously adverts may appear for killerpool but we've always had gambling adverts.

madmiketyson said:
Is this going to be killer pool only? The name suggests so I guess but I wondered if there are any plans to bring the normal games over there and be able to play for cash......

No plan for that, the emphasis on the site will be multi-player games.

madmiketyson said:
If mich gets banned on funkypool, is he banned on killerpool as well.....and vice versa

I don't know, I haven't thought about that. We can make a special case for mich if necessary.

madmiketyson said:
How will the cash side of it work......paypal?

A paypal account wont be necessary, but this is to be defined, it's still early days.

madmiketyson said:
Will our names on here be saved over there? Will there be a profile section etc for that site?

Names will not be saved. The demo accounts *may* all have to be removed in future when cash gaming is enabled.

madmiketyson said:
How long until we can play for cash, my boss needs time to find a replacement for me Will there be a limit on bets, or could me and Dave play for £100, £1000 etc....

The time scales depend on exactly what will go into the game and feedback received will help define this!

Stakes will be variable, they're currently all set at £1.00 just for the sake of the fun cash leaderboard.

Overall, I love the idea, I have been a big supporter of something like this for ages......

Great

Yes, this does raise a good point. The benefit of killer pool (in real life as well) is that the nature of the game involves a lot of chance with regards to the lie of the balls and player's order. When I play in real life there's always a real chance I can win - no matter how good the opponents are.

The demo site is for fun cash and has no restrictions, money gambling will be different.
