same here, in the main people with underlying health probs have died from it, only 1 without has now died and experts say its very rare for that too happen, so we have to remain calm and level headed and trust there expertise

there has been like 15 deaths here in Australia.
But what some people dont realise is that its near impossible to die from swine flu its self - there are normally complications with it....so everyone went nuts when it hit australia - and we only got the 'mild' strain

Yep! i agree with you Tids!.. it's the people that do have the co-morbidities that should be more worried about it..
So this morning i hear England wants to vaccinate everyone in the population there.. surely that's going a bit far? and if the vaccines are done quickly and fast-tracked, i wonder, will there be consequences for osme of the population like there has been for females taking gardasil?..

My mum and youngest sister have both got it, one of my missus' work colleagues has it, there are four confirmed cases at my little sisters school and up to another 36 unconfirmed......its spreading rapidly now.
I think I might be coming down with it.......it can take up to a week to show itself and I have started exhibiting most of the symptoms today, this being a few days after my littlest sister gave me a hug when I saw her in Mcdonalds, just before she came down with it.......
Not overly fussed, couple of days off work will cost me a couple of hundred quid or so, but Id rather get it now than when it mutates and the tamiflu no longer works
Melz......that as tids said, is rubbish lol.....in Nottingham, where I am, they wont even see you now......diagnose you over the phone and tell you to stay indoors and rest if they think you have it......you only get a shot of tamiflu here, if you are in a risk group....ie baby, oap, previous health problems Because there are 4 confirmed cases at my sisters school, they wont see her to confirm it, they presume she has it and tell her to stay away from people as much as possible.....of course a virus that can be carried for a week before showing itself, means this doesnt help much if you have close contact with someone.........
Im waiting for the government to screw this up as usual.......ill let you know if I do find myself bedridden by it in the next couple of days

hmm, heard on the radio a few days back that a mid aged queensland woman died from swine flu but they think that her "obesity" couldve been a factor.

She most probably had underlying health problems as a result of obesity too......thats where swine flu is at its most dangerous
People that have no health problems will tend to have mild illness similar to seasonal flu.....if you have heart kidney or lung problems, diabetes or a weak immune system then thats when you need to be more vigilant and contact your GP sooner rather than later.
Take basic hygiene steps
Use a tissue to sneeze into then get rid of it promptly and carefully
Wash hands more frequently, you can get the virus by touching an object wiith the virus on it
Clean hard surfaces frequently, using a normal cleanser

Only If your in the 'at risk' catergory
dont forget there are at least 2 people who come on here that i know of are at high risk due to cancer treatments they have had and there immune system may have been shredded to bits due too it and not sure how recovered there immunity is now

they are vaccinating everybody in ireland over the next few months. stations open 12 hours a day in local halls.
starting with those most at risk, those at opposite ends of the age group, young and old people and those with the underlying health issues as mentioned.
after this the "normal" people are to be vaccinated.
