On Thursday, Irish health chiefs said one man had tested positive for swine flu - the Republic's first.
I havent heard anything about this...
Came out tonight Chris.. http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/0430/swineflu.html.. It's not probable any more it has been confirmed.
I was listening earlier to a med chief who sais as they dont know too much about this strain it is hard to pretict anything but one suggested that physical human contact with the flu seems to cause potential death whereas if the flu is concracted dud to interhuman contact it doesnt seem to be as dangerous..
Interesting thaught..
Ahhh crap

Your are right Katie

It's just such a terrible tragedy that the first confirmed death (in the US, I believe) was of a 23 month old child.

I havent heard anything about this...
Chris can i stay at yours i'm scared!
I heard they have to inject it into a animal to get a cure...It will take up to 12 weeks until it's done....So until then you can only take tablets and stay indoors!
We where all waiting for this to happen

You have more chance of catching meningitis and dying than catching swine flu.

Quoting from BBC News website
"An NHS clerical worker has become the first person in the UK to contract swine flu without having visited Mexico, tests have confirmed.
Graeme Pacitti, 24, of Falkirk, picked up the virus after contact with the UK's first cases, Iain and Dawn Askham.
Meanwhile, two more cases of swine flu in the UK have been confirmed, bringing the total to 11.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says there are now more than 300 confirmed cases of the virus globally.
The Health Protection Agency said the latest confirmed UK cases were a woman from the Merseyside who recently returned from Mexico, and a person in south west England. "

Before global panic sets in, lets consider the "normal" flu. The common one, always on the go, that almost everyone has had at one time or another.
The same one that kills an average of 1000 people every month.
Rubbish?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4459140.stm
Perspective indeed...
Swine Flu is real, but nothing new or extraordinary. What we're really seeing just now is the first "Twitter Virus"

well on the australian news, someone said that this fly had been in Mexico for up to 2 months.
They said that this mean that if it was really a deadly flu, it would be in the 100's of thousands in Mexico, i personally think that the media is over-hyping the viewers, making them scared of what we don't really know how deadly it is!
