REVAMPED FUNKYLEAGUE COMPETITION!

I have made considerations and I think that the Endurance competition will be easier to run, less arguments and more transperent to players.

CRITERIA

You must have been a member for at least 6 months

You must have a ranking in one game type above 740 - and your overall ranking must be above 700 (few exceptions will be made - expectation will be dropped if struggling to get numbers)

You must be reliable to play your game within a week (remember, knockout competition)

It is recommended that you log on at least 5 times a week, and that you can be somewhat flexible with what time you can be on.

RULES
Knock Out format - First to 5 in 8 ball UK and US and must win by two frames (even if it gets to say 75-73) and first to 7 in 9 ball (win by two frames)

Could also be done in groups of four (but I would prefer knock out comp of 8 to 16)

Knockout format will see one game played per week. Group format will see games spread out across a month - but I prefer KO format becuase group format has not worked for me in the past.

So I need a minimum of 8; 16 maximum and I will take number in between as some would just get a bye.

ok..due to a few concerns raised already - i am revising the recomendation of days being online to 3 days.

5 was a bit high aiming, but I think 3 is ok - but as long as you get the game done, i dont care if you are only on for one day a week!

thats makes two people in the comp

and in case of a tiebreaker needed in a KO comp, a single game of 14.1 shall be played.

The more players the better. Currently if the numbers stay at 9, there will only be one match played in the first week.

great - need two more players; first come first served.

I am also considering a special minor tournament for those who get knocked out in the first week.

So there now comes a decision for if we make this a double-elimination tournament (explained in a sec) or if we just had a one off week for those who didnt win the first round

DE - Double Elimination (DE) is a comp where to be eliminated, you must be defeated twice. To get the second chance, you must be knocked out in the first week of competition.

The field would then be split into the Major 8 and the Minor 8 competitions. These comps play on their own way to find the winner of the two comps.

Then in the end there would be a "super cup" - where the winner of the Major League played the Winner of the Minor League to see who is better out of the two comps.


I think thats a good way to give everyone a good crack at the title, even if you lose first week. While some will see this comp as slightly unfair - this is a great way for everyone to get a decent attempt at winning; especially if a weaker player loses to a very strong opponent in week one.

Those in the Major 8 knocked out in week two will not go into the Minor League.

So are we cool with that - or give it a miss?
