Yeh divers should be punished.

here is my view on this diving
diving is apart of the game of football, simple as that! i call it getting around the system, i might bother me, but it happens - but if they want to make a stance, they should have banned Eduardo!!!

Is it just me or was there something slightly suspicious about that??
Where did the extra 90 seconds play come from within the four added-on minutes? The ref did himself no favours by not blowing for time when the free kick was headed clear.
I'm sure it was nothing to do with Atkinson not having refereed a Utd game since being bad-mouthed by Ferguson. The fourth official laughing with Ferguson after the winning goal also did him no favours.
Just a shame it didnt happen the other way round, the Utd reaction would have been hilarious to watch.

I see fergie and co are up to their old tricks again.
1 day we might have a fair league then it might become a bit more entertaining for all those non manc fans out there.
Zzzzzzzz

I quote from one of my friends of Facebook:
"I've lost count the amount of times I've said that referee needs to be shot after a United game..."
That caused an arguement

What a game! United deserved the victory in the end.
Glad it was Owen who scored think he's a good striker.
But why does Darren Flecther never play like that for Scotland???

4 minutes of injury time became 6 because Bellamy equalised. It's an absolute farce... hate the cheaters.

Yes you're right its called Man Utd at Old Trafford
Fair play to Ferguson. He has got officials scared of him which is why they air on the side of caution every time and things like this invariably work in his favour. Most would do it if they could but he does it better than everybody else.

*Fourth official Alan Wiley indicates a minimum four minutes added time.
*Under Premier League rules, the referee can play four minutes plus 59 seconds.
*City score an equaliser ? the referee, Martin Atkinson, can add 60 seconds for celebration and restart (Hughes admits it took 45 seconds for play to resume).
*United's Anderson is replaced by Michael Carrick ? the referee can add 30 seconds for a substitution.
*In these circumstances, Atkinson is entitled to add two minutes, 29 seconds to the original four minutes.
*Substitute Michael Owen scores for United to win the game on 95 minutes, 25 seconds ? well within the allotted time.

Ah but Bellamy's celebration was no longer than any of the other three in that half - are we saying that those four minutes were made up of 3 goal celebrations - what about the rest of the subs and the time taken for the normal stoppages and the ball being out of play and the time wasting that took place after Utd went 3-2 up?
And how come there was no extra time added on for the Owen celebration?
There is no argument - its not Man Utd's fault - just rank bad decision making that caught Atkinson out.

Yes but there has to be reason to - and they generally wont because they know they will get pilloried for it when it goes wrong - as it did yesterday.

i have always question, how they got this extra time - if they really added it properly there would be a 10 min extra time!

Who cares about that game, Villa 2-0 Pompey.
Pompey equal at 26 year record of losing their opening 6 games. Derby had more points at this stage when they set the lowest points tally so does Nick dare come online and defend his team or will he stay quiet and maybe see his team break Derby's record
Wolves v Pompey on 3rd October, be at that game to see how bad Pompey are
