he is just playing his game and it perfectly within the rules.

Chippy says he is one of the best ever uk8 players.
Alhusky says hes too defensive.

Just opinions from different angles. He has done nowt wrong but it doesnt mean people wont complain every once in a while.

Personally i could never be bothered to play that way but each to their own.

It will make the times you beat him sweeter alhusky

Chippy, you need to actually read the post, it's when YOU snooker HIM that he makes no attempt to hit his own ball, or turns the cue around and rolls the white deliberately into a pocket.

Only does it when balls are bunched and little chance of clearing in 1 shot. Try playing him and you'll see what I mean.

Sounds good to me al, pit me wits against a dour 'un. I know what ya mean though, most of the time when I try for that elusive GB I go in-off in the corner, and its virtually impossible for the other guy to clear in 2 visits... Ah well all part of the game, don't like the bating before the game that you described though.

Tough luck basically, he doesn't break any rules and he plays some amazing 8 ball UK but I have beaten him in the UK final 5-2 and so have others. Find a way around his style, put up or shut up

"Winning the game

A player will continue to play until they either foul or do not pocket one of their balls. After a player has legally pocketed all of their balls, they shoot to pocket the black ball. The winner is the player to legally pot all his coloured balls and then the 8 ball"

It says nothing on how aesthetically pleasing your playing style must be. A win is a win in my book.

By telling everyone that a defensive style offends you, it will only make people change their own style when they play you in future.

When an opponent does everything he/she can within the rules of the game in order to beat you, you do well to learn from it and adapt rather than let it annoy you.

Yes, it is pointless in terms of hoping you can change how your opponents behave, as long as they are within the rules.

Discussing whether or not rules can and should be changed is another matter - and one you did bring up in your first post - granted.

I don't hold with changing rules to accomodate aestetics (sp?) tho. Playing defensively is a perfectly valid tactic - including voluntary fouls.

As for the time / double DQ issue, that can't be solved by how people play the game. It should be solved by a chess clock system, hurting the slower player instead of hurting both. Completely different topic imo.

I'd happily join in and advocate stronger rights for game owners/active players over that of visitors, but that too is quite a separate topic.
