I support a local team (Partick Thistle) but i was brought up with Rangers, it's in my blood you see.
Glad to see the Saints in the SPL, i can't imagine them being in the first division.

Thanks for trying but Saints will, and will be for a long time, a lower half SPL team/First division team.
Here's basically the echelons of Scottish football.
Old Firm - Dominant Forces
Third Forces - Hearts, Hibs, Dundee United*, Aberdeen*, Motherwell*
* = Could easily become relegation teams, as shown in past 5 years
Relegation/First Division - St Mirren, Falkirk, Hamilton, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Dundee, Dunfermline, Partick Thistle
There you have it. We need to accept it, but that's life as a Buddie

Shame but true.
I was on Wikipedia last night looking at the history of the SPL, there used to be 20 teams in the premier league, it should be like this now!
Rumor has it that the Premier, 1st, 2nd and third are going to merge into 2 leagues. Which means the premier and the 1st will make one massive league, with 2nd and 3rd being SPL 2.

Nonsense Dave.
Apart from the top 2 the others change around very regularly. 2004 Dunfermline finished 4th, same year Aberdeen were close to relegation, Hibs, Motherwell, Dundee Utd have all been down kicking about the bottom few places in the SPL in relatively recent years.

Reason I starred Motherwell, Dundee United and Aberdeen were because they could slip into relegation. 'Well and Aberdeen should have been relegated within the past 10 years, but got lucky.
I was looking at a different approach. I'm looking at sizes of clubs, fanbases, expectations. The Pars ending 4th - not a big enough club to do it more often, proved by them being in the 1st Division. Falkirk being 7th last year - they weren't going to progress any further.
I know it's a bit inaccurate, but most of it is true. The Old Firm dominate, the one time Hibs did go down, they were back up at the first go. Also, they have arguably the best youth system in Scotland. Hearts are too good for going down. Under Levein, United will be a top 6 club. Motherwell are all over the place these days, so I can't really decide on them. Aberdeen may slip down now Calderwood has left.
As for the rest, it's the bottom 6 taking turns to go down, and the 1st Division taking turns to come up. Some will have the odd great season, like the Pars in '04, but most of us don't have the money or players to do it consistently.

Seen this quite a few times. I'd like to see an 18 team league. It would be much better IMO. Playing teams twice a season instead of 3 or 4, more away venues, and the fact some 1st Division sides are as good as lower SPL clubs.
The current league is too small and the split is just annoying. One up one down, makes it hellish to get out from the 1st Division. I think a league expansion would be great - more teams to play, more rivalries, better games.

The hoops? Were they even playing?
Poor game yesterday, but what a goal from Novo.
Gives us the double, also an end to a decent season.
Well done Rangers.

I prefer the Scottish Cup too, partly for the Juniors, and also because I don't like the League Cup being seeded, it just ruins it for 2nd/3rd Division sides.

The Shire groundshare with Stenhousemuir, so it's likely our game will come the day after Stenny's.
Saints have made their first signing, bringing in Lee Mair from Aberdeen.
On black+white army, it says we've also signed Michael Higdon from Falkirk. Not on the BBC yet, but it looks likely it's happened.
Two good signings for us

Michael Higdon still isn't confirmed. A few Saints fans are very wary of this after the Ian Harte situation earlier this season, where we believed he had signed when he never. Hopefully it will be true, but there's nothing on the BBC or the official site, and it may take a while, as Higdon just got married today and is now going on his honeymoon.

Interesting manager moves. John Hughes leaves Falkirk for Hibernian, Mark McGhee set to join Aberdeen from Motherwell. Aberdeen and Celtic are still managerless, now along with Falkirk and possibly Motherwell.
Bit of a disgrace from the SFA to allow McGregor and Ferguson back in the Scotland squad. So much for sticking to their word about "life bans". we don't need Ferguson, and McGregor is backup at best, Craig Gordon is the clear number 1.

Quoted from the Dumbarton FC website.
Everybody connected with Dumbarton Football Club are shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden death of club captain Gordon Lennon resulting from a tragic accident whilst on a weekend break with his family.
All our thoughts are with his whole family and in particular his partner Kelly and 5 month old baby Kai.
Gordon was an inspiration both on and off the park and his influence will be felt by many both within and out with Dumbarton Football Club for a very long time to come.
Bloody shame what happened to him, RIP.

R.I.P. Gordon.
Saints usually play Dumbarton every preseason (and every cup), and we are away to them this season. We usually keep our half of the gate shares, but instead, we will give our share to the family of Gordon this time. I think it's great what we are doing, a nice gesture from the board.

Easy answer - one of the Old Firm. Show's how boring it is that you can predict who'll win the league when one of the teams don't even have a manager
The harder question is, who will go down? Definitely too early to decide, as teams bring in new managers, player go and leave - best time to judge this is once the season starts.
