Misses a pot? If so then why do they get credit with safety play if the person just judged it wrong.
Have I got it completely wrong?

Oh yes, they'll be credited, but it will be the same with everyone.

But people can also fluke balls in when you lay a perfect safety.
It's a useless statistic on it's own or after just a few shots, but comparing 2 people stats will be interesting and meaningful (for us statistic fans!).

I think that sounds good. But more often people miss because of someone playing a safety than judging it wrong in this game

Agree, for top players you have to force the error. Some players can pot all day!

Sure thing, go for it
The fact that a miss doesn't necessarily mean the previous player made a good safe, over time, in average, a high miss rate from the people playing after you absolutely says a great deal about how good the player is in this format.

Another possible statistic is safety success %.
The way it could work is after each shot if the next person misses it counts as a successful safety. Break shots are not included. Should work?

It might be, but as an average, over time, the players with the highest percentages are the best safety players

Exactly I think people should be rewarded for stopping them as it's kinda the idea of this game.
And by the way, don't you feel that the total pots table is going to become a contest of who can play the most games?
I don't mind though because it's been making me play more to stay high

Absolutely.
The miss rate for top players, if unforced, is less than 1%

The entire point system does - for better and worse.

Not so much the whole point system though - you could play 100 games, but not win any and be on -1000 points.
You still need to play well to become top

The issue isn't that skill doesn't matter - it does, and should. The issue is that amount played ALSO matters.
As long as you in average play well enough to gain points per game played, the amount you play matters in terms of how fast you gain points.
Not a problem IMO, as long as the number of games is recorded, but it's definitely possible to compensate for a bad win rate by simply playing more than others.

I know a lot of users are in favor for it but I'm the sort of person to look at the bad points of things. I just think it wouldn't be accurate stat that's all.

Over time, it will be 100% accurate.
The misses made by players playing after you will be made because of three different reasons:
- You play a good safe, making the shot hard
- You fluke a good safe, making the shot hard
- The player makes an unforced error
Now, the point is this: The two last factors (which are the ones you want to avoid measuring here) will be virtually identical for all players - over time.
In a few games' scope, this will be very inaccurate and say nothing at all. Over time, it will close on a 100% accuracy. That's the beauty of statistics ;)

i think there is a very true quote about statistics which i'm sure you know
another variable that can distort them on here is the quality of the opposition that you could often (theoretically ) select to play

I think the only stats we need are total points and average points per game, but only after 50 games to get a realistic rating.

It seems to be going pretty well by the looks of things Mike. The big difference is that golf plays pretty much the same if you've mastered the holes. Killer is (Excuse the pun) a completely different ball game,
The waiting times for games have decreased pretty drastically from launch day and right now i find the longest i'm waiting is a couple of minutes, mainly for the 10 player games.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if killer became the most played game type on the site.

i just hope this isnt the new golf i think bringing it down to 3 people would go a long way to minimizing people forgetting about it after a few weeks
DISCLAIMER:I know people still play golf- but not like they did on the first couple of weeks
