Don't make a thread like this not expecting any criticism, my friend.

I don't understand what you mean by "all these words are 4 letter words just like any 'bad' word." Curse words are defined as being bad because society has made them so. They did not always mean the things they did - time has warped words so that no word means only one thing. The ones that are blocked out are ones that are offensive in this day and age, and unless you know how to appeal to the masses, I don't think it's likely to change.

It's very simple, really: Funkypool was designed to be a family site. Administrators and moderators are here to make sure that it stays this way. If you don't like it, then no one is forcing you to keep visiting here. Swear words will never stop being blocked out (if we can help it), so if you want a pool site that allows swear words, then I would suggest finding another site to visit.

Sorry aussieboy, it wasn't addressed to you. I should have made myself more clear.

I'm not criticizing you, Aflumpire. Just addressing the general Funkypool population.

whats your view on swearing on Funkypool???

Very low tolerance, no swearing is allowed in the chat rooms or used offensivley to any funkypool member or guest. If anyone is offended by swearing send complaint function should be used.

Personally I dont like that, even swearing in game rooms is unacceptable in my eyes. You still dont know the age of your opponent so there is nothing to differ between the two locations.

Hmm... I'd say it's probably more likely to be the kids themselves that are doing the swearing.

...and that's also why I don't really see the age argument as valid in these discussions, to be honest.

Why put age restrictions (due to bad language) on films then?

I personally don't have a problem with swearing, I think everyone swears at one time or another.

Its obviously not nice to swear in front of children, but I would assume a good parent would explain to their child that swearing isn't appropriate language for a child to use.

Its simple really, funkypool wont allow you to swear, so don't do it, if you get caught you'll get booted.

If your a person that can't conform then you will encounter problems, laws, social norms, parking restrictions and petrol prices will batter the rebellion out of you eventually

To be fair, this was probably just written originally with the intention of just finding out what people thought of swearing being disallowed...rather than to spark up a debate as to whether or not it should be disallowed.

I'm all for it being banned though..the rules state when you sign up that you agree not to

IMO there should be a no tolerance policy...perhaps some sort of voting to kick out a player amongst chatroom users should there be no mod available...perhaps just overall in fact, mod or not.

Not really relevant. With films it's the kids hearing the swearing, on FP it's the kids (and less mature adults) doing the swearing.

Anyway, I don't really agree with those age restrictions either. It should be the decision of parents what their children are exposed to, not some guy sitting in an office.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying for one minute that swearing should be unbanned on FP. I do usually believe people should have the freedom to choose, but things would get a bit chaotic if the swearing ban was lifted.
