The current power-struggles aside, next season should be a lot better. With more time to test, and with the top teams being at the back of the pack right now, we'll hopefully get a season next year where you have 5-6 teams able to win races, not just two like now.

It's not that, back in the 90's it was all about the racing...now it's all politics basically.

Bring back Arnoux and Villeneuve!

Lots of wheel bashing there and the famous Murray commentating

And it is too much politics nowadays.

But remember the teams threatened a breakaway series in 1981 or somet like that and didn't go ahead with it

Yeah, the politics we could do without for sure, no argument there.

And what a video! Not just the cars and the racing, but old Spa brings tears to the eyes too!

Old Spa? Spa was Belgium, that was the French Grand Prix in the video.

Nice how many people were on the track, well at the end of the pit lane.

But how hard they hit each other in that, nowadays, both cars would be too damaged to carry on

I know he says it's the french grand prix, but that circuit is still Spa. Several of the turn names he mentions are Spa turns too (Parabolica for example), not to mention the track being fairly easily recognizable.

As for damage I had the same thoughts... that much wheel-banging these days and you'd have a circuit full of carbon and two cars less in the race.

Do you remember 1979 warney? Thats from my youth, the French Grand Prix at Dijon - and I remember wanting the Renault and Ferrari Scalextric cars - oh and Alan Jones's Williams too - plus enough track to make a four lane circuit - sadly it wasn't to be

To be perfectly honest, i prefer looking at older races than the latest ones, here's a few of my personal favourites if you ever fancy looking them up:

Japan - Suzuka - 1998
Spain - Jerez - 1997
Belgium - Spa - 1998
Australia - Adeleide 1995
Australia - Adeleide 1993

I have a few more unforgettable races but i dare not list them!!

Spa 1998 is one of my favourites too, though Schumacher was running away with it for most the race. lol

The big pile up at the start started by DC, then Schumacher hitting DC in the wet to allow Damon Hill to win

Hungary 1997 has memories too, with Hill almost winning in an Arrows :|

To be honest, Hill had it for most of the race.

Imagine if that start happened again with the current rules, start the race with next to no body as there are no spare cars nowadays, also the race would have been shorter because of the 2 hour rule limit. I make it that only 9 escaped the crash, therefore only 9 would have raced but we wouldn't have had Coulthard going round to annoy Schumacher. lol. It would be similar to the US 2005 with the amount of cars. lol

The above race video between Villeneuve and Arnoux was actually at Dijon-Prenois. Brilliant piece of racing!!

Yep, Dijon Prenois is correct!

There's another race with Villeneuve and his teammate (unsure who this was at the time, may have been arnoux actually!) At San Marino, i can't remember the year.

In fact, look at most races with Gilles Villeneuve racing, they are immense!

Sure? Just looked so much like Spa (and the speaker clearly mentions a turn called parabolica... then again, you might find such a name being used on several tracks I guess - no weird thing to call a curve :P)

Makes more sense, as it was clearly the french GP too tho.

And yeah, I love those races too - so much action! Even on the final laps. That's what they need to somehow bring back.

I vote they replace the front and rear wings with front and rear bumpers.
