Been watching all the free practise sessions - looks great.
Very very narrow tho, and slow, so will probably be another Monaco style race it seems.

Seems like any street race will be narrow. Not many overtaking opportunites, so qualifying is huge if you're going to finish in a good place.
(Not saying qualifying isn't big, just that this one matters more)

Extremely strong performance by Massa.
Obviously remains to be seen in terms of fuel, but a safe bet that all cars were very light anyway.

I do not appreciate your "input" mufc2008.
Just saw the track, looks great and very tough!
Anyone see those high kerbs at the S bends? Fisichella got airborne from them, if that happens opening lap of a race at the front, er...it doesn't look too good for the other drivers heading into that corner at stupid MPH.
Good to see Raikkonen back in the top 3 for qualifying.
Will be a cracker tomorrow afternoon - night.

Ferrari, get rid of that bloody stupid light system!!!
Not only has it cost them a championship, it can also cost them a crew member if they aren't careful.
IDIOTS!

The night race with floodlights looked really impressive. One of the best ideas I've seen.
Good to see Coulthard getting some points again. Good drives from Alonso and Rosberg. I felt sorry for Sutil, he was going for one of his/Force India's best placings of the season, had a chance of top 10. Once Massa messed up at that turn, all Sutil could do was crash into the wall to avoid hitting Massa.

I think it's the last time we'll see that light system. Shouldn't have been allowed in the first place as it puts their cars out into other cars, therefore being a constant danger. Maybe a heavy fine will give Ferrari a kick up the back side, one which they heavily deserve.
Great drive from Alonso, made the luck stick!
Its still not over yet, Dave. Don't worry!!

It's just the fear of that light system, what if one of the pit crew ends up stuck to the fuel pump and dragged down the track, it's a horrid thought but i can see it happening if they keep it.
I hope they do get rid of it. A lollipop man is so much smarter than a green light.

I agree. It's not so often man is more accurate than machine, but in this case, the Lollipop man is better. every other team uses one, and they don't have many accidents a year. The light system could end up causing a serious injury if set at the wrong time.

While I somewhat agree, this was entirely a matter of human input error and happens all the time with lollipops too. No idea why they choose to accept the potential of system failures anyway, but had none this far.

Ferrari are the only team using the light system, and they are the only ones to make mistakes.
Yes, lollipops are known to make mistakes, but not as often as the light system.

A VERY debatable statement and one you completely lack any sufficient data to support. The light system has been used less than a full season this far, and has this far caused two slips, both of which are 100% from human flaws, none of which are a flaw in the system as such. And there has been numerous similar early launches from other teams this season too.
It might very well be you are right that the light system is more prone to errors, my point is simply that none of us has the slightest basis for such a claim - yet.
Never the less, I doubt we will ever know either, because FIA more than likely will ban it from the next season unless Ferrari chooses to abandon the idea themselves.

But the whole system is a failure because I think it breeches health and safety guidelines. How does the system know not to release the cars? The pit crew can't see, that's why a lollipop man is needed, and I know you will counter with the fact lollipop men have been known to release cars into the path of others but they have the ability to both correct their inital mistake, the light system can't. Twice Ferrari have released cars into the path of others, both recently, so it might be more, and will happen again.
I think statistically Dave woiuld be right in saying the light system causes more accidents, I know you argue that it is human error which is causing this, but that's not the point of the debate. The point is that it is dangerous, whether it be the systems fault or human error. Less errors occur using lollipop men. And even if errors do occur, they can be rectified (by the lollipop smashing back down, see Coultards incident for conformation of my assertion) as appose to the driver, who'll be concentrating on alot of other things, having to look behind to see if he's pulling something that he shouldn't.
