Personally, i've never asked ASL, or not so i can remember. However when i'm asked it i just tell the truth and say i'm a 57yo male from Cambodia with previous convictions for internet indecency. Some people just don't like the truth though. And never think to check my profile.

I completly agree with you tids. Asl, might be ok for the youngsters, but for the older people, "Hi" is ok.

All i can say is get over it, i don't think it's that much of a problem. If you are polite and just say i only speak to my friends over pm etc they tend to take it on the chin!
