I refer back to this topic:

http://www.funkypool.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=9317

Just now I was 1-0 up in my match and then everything froze and I was logged out!

It goes like this (exactly the same as the other thread I started):

1) everything is fine on my go, no lag
2) opponents shot: clock runs down to zero, nothing happens, if I type anything in the message bar it doesn't register
3) if I go back to my main internet browser window (seperate from game which opens in a new window when clicking the "Enter Game" button) I can access EVERY page I try on the internet except the funkypool site.
4) this lasts for a couple of minutes then suddenly it's back, complete with tournament result that I've lost 2-1 to someone rubbish who I was about to beat 2-0!

Is there someone who understands this or who has had exactly the same experience? I use firefox and not IE but it works 99% of the time. My javascript is fine when tested in that lag thread.

I've changed the title slightly because it was extremely emotive. In truth, it's 99% certain that the problem lies with you.

All possible reasons were covered in your initial post about the same problem, so this is just repetition.

But I won't cap as yet, in the hope that our more technical users/mods may be able to help you with solutions.

I cut it down to keep it short.

I urge you not to use Firefox. It is very prone to freezing in precisely this fashion due to various things.

I will elabourate at great lenght (i can hear the community shudder as i type that!) however i suspect you want a quick-fix, and thats the best i can suggest.

Also be sure neither MSN Live messenger nor Nero Scout are running, as both these programs have known conflicts.

Hope that helps.

OK then it looks like I'll have to try IE.

I still don't understand why my internet works for everything apart from funkypool during the immediate aftermath of the game freezing tho.

Please don't "cap" because that's the reason I had to start a new topic! If the problem doesn't occur again for me or anyone else then I'm sure this topic will be buried in due course!

You don't have your DSL filters in, everytime your phone is used you will be temporarily disconnected.

When YOU are disconnected the game will still allow you to play your shot's; when you are reconnected it will update the game accorfingly.
Of course the game can't predict your opponent's shot's so you will have to wait until you are re-connected to see them.

In the interests of other people, who have the sense to maintain their connection; if you are disconnected for long enough you will be logged off the game in which case, do not pass go do not collect 200, your outta there.

I still don't understand why I wasted that time typing that for you for like the 70th time.

Stop wasting people's time! If you ask a question, LISTEN to the answer.

listen buddy, the only reason I mentioned it again is because I wasn't satisfied with the answers I got. I live on my own therefore I know for a fact that the phone line was not in use so that's that one blown out of the window, plus if it was the case then it doesn't explain why I could still access other internet sites.

You may have powers here but that doesn't excuse being rude.

haha magic.

if you have made a thread about the same topic previously don't bring it back up with a new thread if users have tried to help you. there is no need.

also a little note to help. you experienced lag and this may be due to a number of things. one such being the fact you had other browser windows open. maybe try decreasing the amount of programs open while playing.

thanx mr_dudey

Ok I'm now here using internet explorer and it does look quite different but I'll persevere and hope I don't get chucked out of any more tournaments.

Was a tad confusing tho because a) for some reason it wont save my username and password (yes I'm not stupid, I know how to play around with the settings to enable it but it still doesn't work) and b) for a couple of minutes it wouldn't let me log in saying my IP address had been logged therefore I was left scratching my head thinking I'd actually been banned by yourself magicblack for getting annoyed at you.

Thankfully that turned out not to be the case, and you've toned that post down via an edit so I'll let you off

oh yeah, the game window takes a helluva lot longer to open than with firefox so something tells me one day I'll miss a match with that baby

I'll bear that in mind. Also what other option was there but to start a new topic when the original was locked? Maybe keeping keys in pockets unless totally necessary would be a good policy for mods.

I didn't tone that post down at all, all I did was stop yawning. you keyed in the wrong password, that's why you're IP was logged

well the same issue as you have mentioned has been a common topic.

maybe consider searching through the forum for answers to questions you pose before creating a new thread.

Well it's good to know it's been a common topic because that means I'm not alone. I did a quick search and didn't find another the same, and I post at numerous forums on the internet so I know how it works...

The length of time it takes to open, and the fact that you cant save your password, both hint that you have your security settings on high, therefore the browser is having to reload the game applet every time and isn't storing any info beyond the current session.

Regarding your problem. The reason i mentioned Firefox was that your symptoms are typical of the game freezing, which basically means the Java applet crashing.

Thats why other sites still work fine.

Hope thats explained a bit better..

OK this just happened to me again and I was using Internet Explorer and I had no other windows open. At least this proves to me that it's not got anything to do with Firefox which is good because the game looks slightly better using Firefox imo.

Anyway, I've noticed that the site is very busy at the moment (the 6pm tourny is always busy these days because it follows a speed tournament therefore is the only tournament being played when it starts) and the site is responding very slowly. I did notice a bit of lag this time during my game which wasn't the case the other times it happened.

However this still doesn't explain why I've still not played anyone who has been logged out during play in this way. It does ruin the experience for me
