What would everyone think about haveing a new tourny start every 30 mins instead of a hour. This could give more ppl a chance of getting a tourny win.
Please give ur opion

Its a good idea for poorer players as it gives them more chances to win, but i can imagine better players being abit resentful of this!

It gives everyone more chances to win, no matter how good or bad they are, so no need for anyone to resent more opportunities!
However I would guess it depends more on how much of a load it would put on the server..

i total agree with everyone of you because tournys are getting dominated by a group of people. Occasionally someone new wins a tourny.

would it not spread out the number of players in tournaments too much?
it might be a good idea for when the speed tournaments are on because then there will be more matches over by the time another tournament begins.

well if peopl got put out in the first round or didnt make a tourny they wouldn't have to wait an hour before they could play one. That would get boring sitting their waiting while everyone else is in a tourny. Theres no one else to play so tournys would be spread out amoung ppl.

Well if we had twice as many tourneys you would pretty much have twice as long to wait!

I totally agree with this - it would spread players too thinly.
Also, there's already a problem with people entering more than one tourny at once. A tourny every half hour would mean lots more people finding that their opponent doesn't turn up because they're playing in a different tourny.
I also agree that this shouldn't be a problem during speed tournies, as a far greater proportion of players will be knocked out by the half-hour mark.

Did you attend one of those schools where there are 'no losers, and only winners'?
If players are spread really thin, and half the games don't go ahead because one player is in another tourny, you will often have players reaching semis or finals without even playing a game.
That's not a win. That's a gift by default.
I think that tourny wins should be a goal people work towards. It took me about 5 months to reach a final, and about 7 months to win a tourny.
It's what got me addicted - trying to reach the standards of the top players (something which I'm still a long way off).
If I'd come on here and won a tourny first day because nobody else turned up, I'd have never logged on again.

This is the post of the month!
I like the tournies the way they are! Remember it's not about the winning it's about the taking part that counts!

Well said Martin. (took me 3 and a half years!)
Thats the beauty with the tourneys, you dont get to select what rank or skill level your opponents are etc, everyone is on a level playing field so you really get to find out who's best.
One are that has been mentioned elsewhere would be to have more speed tourneys at say 2/34/6am, for our overseas players.. (and shift workers!)

I would like to hear what Nick's opion is on this subject. Who else who like to know what he thinks. Isn't he the one that makes the new features.
13:09 Mon 5 Feb 07 (GMT) [Link]
Yes, he is. And he reads all these suggestions, but doesn't always answer them on the forums as he is generally very busy.
The best and most workable suggestions are nearly always adopted, and if he considers this to be one of those, he will no doubt act on it.
You need to be patient though. Changes to the site join the 'to do' list and can sometimes take place months after the original suggestion.

I think this would be a great idea because of the fact that it would give some other ppl a chance to win some tournys.

I've always though 1 an hour was sort of a lot already.
Every half hour would be 48 tournaments a day. A tournament win wont even mean anything anymore.
sounds like inflation. lol
