Just a general observation but why does it appear that the rules regarding participation in so-called 'Name and Shame Threads' don't apply to Mods/Admin?

For a recent example, read the capped thread that I made bout my 900 rank where a number of mods seemed only too keen to participate, particularly the post made by Afey, shouldn't Admin know better than to stir things up by making such posts?

What happened then? If you feel that afey has done something wrong then you should complain. I don't think making this thread is going to get you anywhere or have anything other than a negitive reaction!

I really think everything there was very light-hearted, although it would have been nice for Admin to simply explain that they had reset your account for you rather than leave people wondering.
Hmmm however, everyone reading the thread is assuming that you ASKED the admin team to reset your account, if you didnt, then there are several of the Admin/Mods team who really should be demoted.
And no, for once, i'm not joking.
This is the thread - it better not get deleted! : http://www.funkypool.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=8402

I believe this could be capped. In China. Something has been done wrong indeed. But dont lose sight of the fact that almost all mods do a great job. Not trying to brown nose at all. Yaay for the mods. Boo for the bad one(s).

LOL lets not get this outta proportion, i'm sure they were just joking and its all innocent. After all if Anaconda had done anything wrong he woould have been banned. (and i would be stunned if a great player like him did something warranting that!)
Oh well, shows how well the game is running when this is all we have to talk about!
Noo, wheres my dolphin..

look whats the point in having power if it cant be abused slightly, who did that thread actualy hurt? no one. slight hypocrasy is clear in all orginisations, the ones that have strict views and stick to them are the ones to worry about

The actual forum rules on this are:
Please can you respect other members. We understand people do not always get on with each other, but please can you have a certain amount of toleration to other members. If you don't agree, try not to launch an attack on them, but answer back constructively. No one wants to read through pages and pages of abuse. Please be polite and tactful, and considerate of others feelings.
Basically this is to stop unsubstantiated rumours or bickering between members which would take over the forum.
The only problem here is that when a score is reset for cheating ideally it should be anonymous. The member in question has made that very difficult by starting a thread concerning this issue 2 times.
It's a difficult line between deleting threads or giving staff opinion in return.
EDIT: due to poor spelling and misery at Pompey's result.

2 times?
When was the other?
Furthermore, afey's post on that thread wasn't staff opinion, it was a personal attack on a individual in the members forum which was completely unnecessary. Afey clearly either wanted to draw attention to themself or provoke the response that it has got and guess what, they have succeeded....congratulations

So ana, tell me. You actually cheated then? I will assume no answer means yes.

Ok, disregard everything i said before. I was under the impression that the score was reset at the request of the user, and i think that is what everyone else who read the thread would have thought as well. The only reason anyone would see anything bad in this is if they were the person cheating, in which case the sensible thing to do would be to say nothing!
Oh well, unique case. Normally "name and shame" threads are simple bickering between sore losers and others. When someone "brags" about an achievement, and admin knows cheating was afoot, i have to say i think its only right to let everyone know.
Maybe a more direct "the user's stats have been reset due to cheating", rather than the "read between the lines" tactic would have been more suitable.
Edit - speeling and ;gramer

im with anaconda..if he has been doing something wrong..he deserves that the admins/mods talk to him in private. not to treat him like that.

The policy at present isn't the direct approach - but I agree it would help in certain cases.
And anaconda - Nick just made it very clear why you were reset and why you also made it difficult for your own anonymity to be respected.
So now it's all out in the open - why are you still arguing the point? Why are you still lashing out at others over trivial little things, when I'd say it's you who should be taking a good long look at yourself and your own actions, and at the threads you started based on the 'rewards' of those actions.
You complain bitterly about alleged 'naming and shaming' but it would appear some people have no shame.

lol, the issue isn't about whether I have cheated or not. The issue is how the authority on the site deal with the situation and by creating such posts in the public forum (just like the one you have made there) is not responsible behaviour for those who are supposed to be in charge.
You can talk about users to your hearts content amongst yourselves but as soon as you express your own opinions on such matters in public, you are going against everything which regular members are told not to do.
I am simply asking whether this should be the case.
The point of this thread has clearly been lost and you martin and everyone can see that so why did you not cap it? Why did you need to post?
