I was under (and i still am) under 18 when i was made mod.
However, i struggled to deal with the amount of abuse and questions/queries i got while a mod on here. I like to think of myself as mature and sensible too.
My point being moving the age restriction up certainly make sense to me, as adults also know better than to get involved (emotionally) in arguments etc Another thing i struggled with.

Quickly, i better defend my position on snooker...its a lot quieter! And by the time it grows to be anywhere near as big as this site is now, i will be long turned 18, and hopefully more equipped and prepared to deal with what that brings.

Well put player, we are approaching 60,000 players now, so easily more room more new moderators . Or it just makes your job a lot more fun

I personally think it depends on the individual. Some adults wouldn't know when not to get involved, whereas some younger mods would.

However, raising the age limit would certainly mean that applicants are more likely to have the experience and sense necessary for the job (even though I then wouldnt be eligible ).

I reckon in this case age discrimination is perfectly legal as it isn't a paid job and is merely a website he's thrown together...quite well i might add, I think nick can pretty much choose who he likes

Over 16's are more likely to have real jobs and therefore wont moan so much about not being a mod as they have paid employment instead of a non paid job/chore/slave contract/great, fun opportunity. Thats my theory

I'm still 17 and have been a mod for about 18 months, with a gap in the middle.

I was made mod when I was 14 :)

And I thought I coped very well, until I realised I did not have any common sense (when I got hacked, which was 'my fault'). I was overall a very suitable mod tho, I could deal with a moment of abuse etc. but you have to have the right mindset

I think being 16 is a very fair age to be a mod, because you definitely have more common sense by that time.

I was 16 in May and i purposefully waited till i was 16 because i didn't want to break any rules and i saw that the abuse hurled between users seemed like a bit to much for me at that time. Even when i turned 16 i put it off for a bit to see how the game had changed and the new people/ gorupd and how they acted. I then saw that i thought i could cope with it and put the application in and havn't looked back since, i don't get phased by any comments hurled to either me or other users and all in all think i have handled being a mod quite easily.
