Leicester is not the centre of England!!
Meridan is, hence why the signs when you enter the place say 'Welcome to Meridan, The centre of England'.
And its easily more then 70 miles from the sea whatever way you go.

Where is meridan? Is it Meridan in Grenwich? If so, the Grenwich Meridian line which runs through it is not the centre of England it's just 0 degrees longitude.
Is there another Meridan in the midlands? I thought that the midlands are called the midlands because they are in the middle of England.

Yes, its in the Midlands, its quite close to Birmingham, in between there and Nuneaton/Coventry.

And yes, they are called that, for that reason.
Doesn't mean there isn't a dead centre though does there

I believe the exact spot is marked by a monument and a plaque (spelling).

I guess though because of coastal erosion and whatnot, its probably slightly off centre now
