It works squeezy.

As discussed with 1_eye the other day...the daddy long legs is actually one of the most poisonous spiders on earth.

That's true, but luckily for us its fangs are too short to inject its venom into humans.

We discuss some odd things, 1_eye and I...

Martin, im afraid that fact is somewhat flawed. You say the Daddy Long-Legs or Pholcus phalangioides is unable to puncture human skin. In truth it has fangs roughly .25 of a millimetre thick, where human skin is 0.10mm. the venom they produce is called pholcid venom and it very toxic, but unfortunately almost completely harmless to humans. (in such a small dose) the worst that would happen would be a slight burning sensation. true if you milked 1000 daddy long legs and drank the venom you'd probably die.

Another rational thought, is it not possible a daddy long legs could bite you on a sore or infected area, thus putting the poison straight into the blood stream. People would be dropping off all over the place!

By way k3v - I think (and if I'm wrong I know a man who will correct me) that the daddy-long-legs spider that's venomous isn't the same thing as the thing with wings that gets called daddy-long-legs too. I think those are crane-flies.
