I can always see both sides of this arguement - because there are loads of reasons to have more than one account. The bad ones have mainly been listed - but there's lots of valid reasons too - partiularly avoiding ppl like abusive users, pests and even ex's.

Mr Guevera makes a good point about the amount of posts needed on Fun & Games type forums, and I think a good ammendment would be to treat that type of forum as exempt from posting limits.

Admin/mods: After all thats been posted on this thread, could you please inform me if i am in any way/shape/or form Spamming/offending/harrassing/annoying, or breaking any rules and i'll be more than happy to delete accounts, rather than have a run in with anyone.

The reason i said 'may' was because obviously the word 'will' is not strictly speaking correct as people do post on multiple names and do not get their names banned.

I do think it would be sensible to remove the posting limit for people who have been here a year or so, as they would be unlikely to spam etc...

Perhaps if the system was introduced whereby people could have a username and password to login with, but could create a screen name independantly, would let people change Nicknames as they wish for good reasons (as stated above) but keep the one account, stats etc.

These two measures should eliminate "casual" multi-using, and make it easier to deal with those who really abuse the system...

I reckon your last point was good spinner. Maybe posting limits should be something you can build up with membership time, and only removed if abused. And the nicknames/stats idea would be a good idea too, as long as the nickname could be private.

Also think playerx's use of the word "may" works. I know what you're getting at - that it could be applied to any rule in order to bend it - but he wasn't applying it to any rule - just this one, and I think he's right..."may" would be the better word.- and brings it in line with Simon's definition of the rule in later threads.

squeezy, and poss martin blank also disagree'd with you yet your singleing me out.Out of the above mentioned,i know of at least 3 that have other names purely for posting reasons.Yes,i post a lot, but just for the record i DID NOT know about creating another username until someone informed me i could, so ppl were using multiple accounts way before me. (I'd run out of posts one time and asked a mod to post on my behalf, proof i haven't always had multiple accounts) I Really can't see the problem here, i'd disagree even if i only had one account, as i dont see any harm in ppl having a laugh on the fun and games forums.Try it,you might change your mind.

In justsumgirl's case I don't think there is a problem. She's's created these usernames as backup incase she runs out of posts on her main username. Not once have I seen her use her usernames in a negative way, always to have fun on (and brighten up) the forums. There is no harm in that.

justsumgirl has always been up front with having more than one account. I cant see the problem either

I think there is a definite case for admin to look into here regarding posting limits.

In effect what Paula has had to do is break the rules in order to enjoy the site. That should not have to happen.

I'm sure you would rather be able to just keep posting with your main account, yeah?

I'd be for (as mentioned before) removing posting limits altogether for experienced users.

Obviously newbies (to the forums, since actual newbies cant post) will have to have some form of restriction.

I suggested a years membership, but maybe a certain number of posts would be more sensible?

After 500 well behaved posts the limit is removed?
