Being penalised 4 rank points for leaving a game that hadnt started pushes patience. I delete this site from my favourites. Dire folks, absolutely dire.

LOL its impossible to loose rank without first starting the game, and then confirming you want to loose rank.

I lost rank without playing. That should not have happened. I didnt choose to lose it. It could easily happen again. So stick your LOL up your coulo.

It is impossible for a game to start without you clicking the Rack Balls button, by doing this you confirm you have started the game and therefore your rank is up for grabs.

If you then attemt to leave the game, you get a confirmation box pop up making sure you want to leave and therefore loose rank.

Apologies if the "LOL" seemed out of place, but i seriously thought it was a sarcastic post.

You have to be very determined to lose rank by leaving a non-started game now!

These measure ensure we DO have well earned ranks, by preventing people leaving if they dont get a GB or think they cant win.

I never got the warning that i would lose rank. Yes i racked, but no warning. Fault in the system.

having nothing beter to do i checked all 8 of iamcrap's post and all of them are negative, none ofering any alternative solutions, simple solution for you iamcrap just play the game if u agree to play it then u wont have to whine about it

Just to clarify, it's impossible to leave a game and hence lose points without confirming the dialogue, unless you logout by closing the window.

The client dialogue comes up once you have started the game. If you select a chat room, join or create game, or accept an invite, you will see a dialogue.

For extra checking, the server is told whether you have confirmed the dialogue or not. If you didn't confirm the dialogue the server will refuse the room change.

Often people click confirm without reading the text, I certainly do, Windows shows too many confirmation prompts for my liking!

Ah, well even with the old system there would have been a chance of that happening (eg if opponent broke and potted a ball at the same time as you logging off).

Basically you chose that you wanted to play a game (by pressing the rack balls button) then logged off. If you're worried about losing points then you should leave to a chat room first, then logged out.

Unfortunately, there is not a way to prevent users closing the game at any point (it is after all just a browser window). Therefore it's forced on the user to check whether the game has started before logging out. Maybe a "safe logout" button would be a better alternative to moving to a chat room.

I think thats unnecessary Nick, after all, why would somone want to log out within a few seconds out clicking the start game button?

Seems like cut and dried common sense to be, however i wont be negative without suggesting a solution, so...

I'm not clued up on java, however i have set up simple javascripts to pop up a confirmation window if someone tries to close a browser when it may affect whats happening. (see meebo.com as an excellent example)

That would eliminate the whining once and for all

i for one am glad about this option.....once u have accepted a game and u decide to leave............u lose the game..........hence losing points, what isnt fairer than that??

there will always be 'whining' but so far it has been from 1 person, nobody else seems to worry about it..........well done and thx on this option

The thing i've been wondering is, if he closed the window, how did he know he lost the game???

it may stop people leavin in ranked games but in friendlies it doesnt. i was about to 7 ball some1 then they left my game to stop me doin it then they came bk then as soon as i potted they left again

the main issue is ranked games m8, frustrating i know, even in a freindly, but theres no rank lost in them is there?

There is no way you can warn someone in a freindly game if they leave early.....go for ranked games m8, best way as the admin here are resolving the people who leave games

i no the main issue is ranked but this still needs to b dealt with. even in ranked games u will get the odd freaks who are willing to lose points just to stop u getiin a runout or a 7 ballin
