What if you are playing a ranked game and didn't plan on making a golden break?
How about if you do get a golden break, you just don't get any points for it, but you still get the win

To be honest i think that if you know how to pull off a golden break then its through your own skill not any luck!!! Therefore surely if you are good enough, then golden breaks are a part of your funkypool repertoire and is not cheating as some people say.

i think u should win 5 points each time u do one but the person who lose on a golden break should lose 0 points

Mr dudley - the issue here is that its just one repetitive shot. (no different to simply potting the white at break, for example)
Since the how-to was posted, almost everyone knows how to do it, but most people here want to play the game so they dont.
If you pot the black at any other time, its a loss. Why should the break be any different!
However i think the idea suggested before, with GB's counting as a win in friendlies only is a great idea. GB people still get thier GB points, but proper players dont lose out.

But who actually plays in friendlies!?!?
golden breaking has become part of the game now! and i seriously doubt nick would change that aspect of uk! also why are we only focusing on uk 8 ball gb's when us 9 ball gb's are becoming the most common!!!
next thing you'll be complaining about is in us 9 ball you shudnt be able to do combination shots through the 9 ball to win.

i suggest the only solutions to this matter is to either:
-get rid of golden breaks from every game (therefore if u pot black off the break u lose "foul on black")
-or to just keep them as part of the game and accept them as a skilled shot

The reason I am asking around players to learn the Gb is that I am becoming increasingly annoyed as Onlyme pointed out racking up rank points and then losing them through a Gb.
At times the Gb is unsportsmanship and I've even asked a couple of high Gb'ers to not to do it to me before a game! If it happens it happens , but at the end of the day where's the fun in it?
I reckon the best soloution is to ditch golden's altogther as Dudey said in all games. Untill then , I'll try my best to avoid it (if poss) and if i do manage to learn it. I know I'll only try it in friendlies.

Or simply apply the stardard UK and US pool rules.
They were developed that way for a reason!

Why do so many ppl miss the point on this? Do you see international pool players pulling off GB's 1 time in every 2 or 3 shots? No, course u don't. Cos it's not possible.
But it's possible on a pc game, cos on all pc games eventually ppl will find a cheat - whether it be a tapped in code, or a certain way of hitting a ball that causes an irregularity (or in this case a regularity) that wouldn't happen if applied in the real game.
It's cheating at a game, nothing else. It has nothing to do with playing pool, it's about carefully applying a single movement of a mouse that requires no pool skills whatsoever. We can all do it now, but wtf is the point???

Case in point - I wanted to prove that this shot requires no skill....and it's just taken me a total of 20 mins to train my 6 year old niece (who has never played this game before, to make a GB once in every eight attempts.
Give her a day or two, she will be at the standard of our specialists on here. Lot of skill required aint there? A six year old can do it in just over quarter of an hour.
Hope u r proud of your 'achievements' rangers & co.

i agree with martin still with all his points, its a cheat shot, nothin more

The rules i'm talking about are the real-life pool rules, where if the black goes in off the break then it is re-spotted (current UK and Interational Rules - though most UK clubs i have asked at still use the old rules which were a loss incurred).
The only exception to this is, of course, 9ball. However the randomisation of the rack seems to be working in the game so far to keep it reasonoble.
Martin - excellently put about the shot. Why dont we post the details again so everyone knows how easy it is. Maybe then those who call it a "skill shot" will be embarrased into defeat.

of course, and so have I. I said a GB once in every 2 or 3 breaks - can u do that? If so, can I have your autograph?

erm if u pracitsed it over and over u wud be able to. Infact unlike funkypool in real life u can make sure the balls are in the same position.
ooo i just thought of another solution to this gb problem..... y not make the balls in the pack move more than usual therefore gbs will be harder to achieve

or even a better way of it....you win the game.....but
YOU DO NOT WIN ANY POINTS....or win minimum points like (0.10)
this i think would stop GB's easy

Players going for Golden Breaks in a big way don’t seem to be worried about the points they gain.
I see a lot of the GB big boys playing non ranked games on a regular basis, which leads me to believe it's just the one shot buzz that they’re after. If it's ranked then it's a bonus, but the real push for them is getting higher in the GB table.
I am leaning towards the opinion that something should be changed in the future, because losing points to a golden break you could live with, but being 2-1 down in a tournament final and losing 3-1 to a GB is not a positive outcome in my opinion, especially if it’s happened to you more than once.
If these shots are coming off every 2 minutes, like they seem to be, what’s golden about them?

good point pool_life,
maybe forbidding them from tournaments?
example: instant disqualification, maybe a bit harsh but how else will people stop doing it?
