"I saw my advantage and i took it! That's what heroes do!"
- Homer Simpson

My go then, let's see...

When you?re weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I?m on your side. When times get rough
And friends just can?t be found,
************************
I will lay me down.

I will lay me down.

Really easy one. Someone & someone; one wrote it and the other sang it. From the 70's.

The Man Who Sold the World by Nirvana. Originally recorded by David Bowie, and then by Lulu featuring David Bowie.

I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight

Song features on the soundtrack of Kill Bill Vol. 1. First song heard in the movie, in fact.

It was actually on Irish telly before the Xmas and I saw the last 10 mins of it!!! And then saw Vol 2. SO it was good to see just wtf was going on at the start of the whole saga. Tarantino's typical non-linear timingas well makes it a big of a mind bender.

By the way, what happens in black and white just before the opening credits?

I've been a wild rover for many's the year
and I've spent all my money on whiskey and beer.
But now I'm returning with gold in great store
and I never will play the wild rover no more

irish folk title of song in the the words

And it's noooooooooo nayyyyyyyyyyyy never*
No nay never no more
Will I plaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy the wild rover
No never, no more!!!

A good drinking song that, and after the first line of the chorus (after the *) you often hear people saying "Rise up your skirt!!!"

The Wild Rover, and I'd say there's been numerous covers of it by the likes of the Pogues, the Dubliners, the Wolfe Tones... One of those?

Cool

It's funny how it tears me apart
First it breaks your head then your heart
I should've loved you better
From the start
It's chewin' at my bones and my brains
It's workin' through the flesh that remains
Why can't this feelin' leave me
And just fade away?

A single release from 2004, the band hit paydirt in 2006 when they scored their first two Top 10 hits. Song contains a nice snippet of lazy saxophone in the middle of it.
