Well it depends on what rules you normally play by are. I think the one or two shot on the black rule effects a lot of games, and probably is debated up and down the country in pubs every night!

Golden breaks encourage people to hit the break hard, and break up the balls. This makes for a more attacking and interesting game, IMO. I know a lot of players like a defensive battle, but you can't beat an open table with lots of pots on.

This is my opinion on it, I'm not saying anyone elses opinion is wrong. Its something else to go for, and adds another dimension to the game.

yea i know what you mean about the hitting the break hard, i agree. I just think it is getting a bit too common, i.e. everyone knows how to do it now! do the balls when they are racked appear in a slightly different configuration from the previous rack? or when the balls are racked do they always appear in the same position? this could solve the problem of repeated GB's maybe....?

Hehe - dont get me wrong, i love the open table too, but the golden break rule ruins that since the frame is already over!

I am aware this is a funkypool rule, however i have scoured the net looking for "real" pool rules which mention it, and sure, in 9ball its the way it should be. But all i can find for UK style pool is aout an even split 3 ways between re-rack, re-spot (best option, leaves a nice open table) or a loss.

yea i agree spinner but simon said that it was decided by funkypool, seeing as its not a simulation of the real game, that they would include the GB rule. thats why i think the racks when re-racked at the start of each game should be in different configurations, or to put it simpler the balls are not in the same position every time, this in my opinion would stop the players knowing where to hit the rack to get a GB every time.

this has already been introduced. The balls are in a slightly different position for each rack.

Otherwise some people would get a GB on every break.

Strange that this thread died..

I know it would be harder to code, but why not have the same rules as normal UK pool with at least two balls besides the cue ball having to enter the baulk half of the table (thus ensuring full breaks)

Keep the numberjunkies happy by recording GB's, but have them be a re-spot as they should be.

I know funkypool is just an arcade game (well, UK is anyway) but no reason not to use proper rules in this case!

It died because theres no need to change anything to do with UK pool
