US games are alot harder, theres a technique to golden breaks now, which is why so many people are getting them

Maybe the announcements for them should be scrapped, just have announcements for run outs?

i agree dr_lovepump, there are too many ppl getting GB's because of the technique wrexhamjj mentioned. Although i think thy should stay on the US games.

So what's the technique then? I have played approx 4000 games on UK and never came close to the golden break. I think it should stay so that I can maybe get it one day.

Just because you cant get any does not mean they should be scrapped. There is a sweet spot to find but never the less it still will not work every time because the rack is never the same. Its still a shot in the dark you just gotta find the spot to increase your odds.Even then its alot of luck,i have done 2 in a row but was just a fluke..

I agree that the announcements of the golden breaks should be removed, but removing the golden breaks themselves NO. They are part of the rules of the game so they need to stay, otherwise you are changing the rules of the entire game.

In 9 ball, fair enough, thats totally different, but why golden breaks are recorded when doubles etc arent just makes no sense..
So defintely, scrap them. Stupid rule in anything except 9ball anyways..
As for the result, why not have a golden break simply result in a re-spot?
This way the numberjunkies get thier golden break recorded but it doesn't amount to cheating.

golden breaks are all part of the game i'd put money on it if you found out how 2 do them u would'nt be asking 2 have them removed but as magic stick said the rack is never the same as u must no by now so it does'nt always work so what is the problem with them

Its cause the balls are arranged slightly different every time (constantly pressing the re-rack button on the practise table proves this). So even if you hit everything exactly the same as you did when you got a golden break, there is no guarentee that it will happen again.
Plus the only people who seem to complain about them are the ones who keep trying and can never do one.

LOL this is pathetic! I dont WANT a golden break because then the frame is over! If proper pool rules were used, and the potting of the black recorded for numberjunkies, then that would be fine.
I'd guess 90% + of us on here are here to play pool. This means having interesting evenly matched games, whilst chatting to people from all over the world and making friends.
Hell, if i'm too far ahead in the game i frequently pot the white to give less experienced players the chance to learn and pick up a win or two.
However, i will simply copy and paste from the official 2006 UK pool rules - "If the Eight-Ball is potted on any break, the balls are re-racked and the same player will break again. When the Eight-Ball is potted on the break, all other aspects of the shot are ignored. (Except if a Serious Foul or breech of the "Spirit of the Game" occurs)."
Simple.

If u pot the black on the break in UK pool u lose if ur playing on a real table in a pub or club
Ditch the GB's as far as im concerned, i never try to do them they just happen with luck as i break off from 1 of 2 places all the time and ive had at least one GB from each position.
Whats a run out btw??

i said from the first day that they should be abolished. if nick is trying to be consistent with keeping to the rules of real pool then he should scrap them, simple. Spinner your right m8. plus nearly everyone now knows roughly the technique for doing the golden break! so no big secret anymore....

We have always had funkypool house rules, and we have never claimed that they are or should be the same as official UK pool rules.
Lets not forget this is an arcade game, not a simulation. As such, there are various rules that we have adapted in ways that we believe works best for the site, not in its likeness to real pool.

in the thread for us 8 ball release nick quotes the rules. I know this isnt a simulation but if the aim is to roughly stick to the rules which dictate a game and its outcome, i just dont see how you can throw one in which can totally eradicate them. Fair enough if you wanted to play about with the two shots on the black rule etc but not something that will directly effect the game.
