yeah your kind of being biast. you need to look at what both bands can do and what they have done!
don't look what one bad has done, and then look at what the other band hasn't done.

but both bands are crap. qoutsa have maybe 3 good songs and blink have about the same

i like "do it for the kids" (my brother plays blink SO much and gets annoying, but thats a good song)

i am with gilli in that i dress like a skater and yousd think to look at me that i liked soundgarden and NIN but im into heavy metal, and the slower and eviller the better. but in my younger days blink was a band i listened to, and i enjoyed their music. also before you say that travis is "not great" remember that in general he uses nothing but a bass a snare and a high hatt, it takes a lot of creativity to come up with interesting drumming as he does with just those three. but yeah i was unimpressed by QOTSA when they had their flash in the pan so to speak, whereas blink produce countless anthemic hits. they might be mindless but theyre appealing

lets look at the facts

blink 182 - formed 1991
qotsa - formed 1997

blink 182 albums - 7, 8 once they release greatest hits in nov 1st
qosta - 4 from what i can see on amazon


you might think blink 182 songs are just power chords, they have 160 songs. the only song theyve just used power chords on is all the small things, and thats their worst song.
now go on mxtabs.net and search their earlier song tabs, buddha, cheshire cat and dude ranch albums and youll see some well thought out riffs created by tom and mark.
now search their lyrics for those same albums.. youll notice humourous lyrics, also well thought out. finally i can name 150 amazing blink 182 songs, i can listen to all their albums (apart from the poor take off your pants and jacket) on repeat all day everyday, i cant listen to one qotsa song without getting a headache...

and to gilli's comment and any other people who think theyve split... youre wrong, tom has made another band with the offspring drummer and distillers bassist called angels and airwaves and apparently theyre releasing a FILM with their album which is gonna be f*cking amazing...

and mark and travis have made another band with a female singer and called it plus 44, these are side projects, they will be back together after theyve finished with em. jsut like boxcar racer.

qotsa didn’t form in 97 like u sed they formed in 1990 under the name of kyuss, under this name they released four albums and an album of singles and EPs. Therefore qotsa technically have released 9 albums.
Beyond QOTSA most of the members have gone away and done other projects these are the bands that just Josh has been in:

The thing that appeals to me about qotsa is that they are UNIQUE they don’t copy anyone and no-one dares to copy them. There are many pop punk bands like blink that’s what annoys me about them, they haven’t done anything that when you listen to it you feel how they felt when they wrote it. You just laugh at them for bein such dumbasses.
And how anyone can bare listening to tom delonges girly annoyin hair pulling out voice is beyond me and mark tries to hard to sing, josh is a natural singer hence why he has been lead singer for many bands
Now im not even going to explain why qotsas guitar, bass, drums, and vocal solos are better why? Cos blink don’t have ANY!!!!!

i agree tho i cant take QOTSA i have actually listened to many of those songs you listed i liked about three.

in my opinion travis is one of the best drummers of all time, and i am such a total snob when it comes to this kind of thing. playing guitar for soundgarden's not that big a deal. if it had been for van halen or something, then we're talking. and drum fills are technically solos, because solos in rock are not solos in the true sense of the word, there is accompaniment. which means blink have absolutely tonnes of solos.

coulda sworn both bands started earlier than that, i would have thought late eighties, but im obv wrong there.

oh and blink have 160 songs. that is in my mind 160 variations of first fourth and fifth major chords in random keys.

anyway if you wanna be like that, tom was in plenty other bands in the late 80's, same with mark. i woulda loved to have wrote the bass riff to 'carousel' when i was just 15.....

tom delonge has played with the cure before i believe.. much better than soundgarden.
name another 'pop punk (as you say)' band inspired by the cure and nofx.. all the 'pop punk' nowdays is copied off blink 182:

i admit when scott left they went poppier but not as poppy as 'american idiot'
meh in my opinion a band has to mean something, it cant just be random people together playing, they have to be good friends, nothing beats tom and marks friendship.
