Agreed, on a VERY old ranking system on Snooker i won vs ste_efc in Original and won 20 points, i'm sure the Rank Difference was 50-100 to him too

yes logging in and java is an issue
but surely look after members that are on now

we've gone from 12 + clans to 5

agree micros don't hurt but disagree that you get 8 in most when some normal tournaments have a couple at best.

wouldn't hurt bringing them back BUT people used to use Micros to win day events when it should be the larger events like Marathon that wins the day event.

love it when you say it though but i'm an honesty guy, i don't pretend to like tournaments, i don't, reason? no prestige, admin could add 25 marathons but wouldn't interest me. 5 Sec Tournaments would get me playing in some as i love 5 sec matches.

^ Fact is also that in most sports people care more about the larger events, Masters Golf, World Championship, Wrestlemania, Wimbledon and other things. They don't watch PTC's in the same light so should be the same here.

By all means bring Micros back but the Tournapoints should be skewed more to the Marathons and even a Ranking Bonus for incentive.

Micro/Speed - x1 Rank, 20 tournapoints points per entry
Normal - x1.5 Rank, 40 tournapoints points per entry
Marathon - x2 Rank, 80 tournapoints points per entry

so puts in line with other sports, Larger Events matter more

Actually agree Micros were not doing any harm.
Think dgen makes a good point about Tournament Points.

Time people on here learned to be able to voice their opinion and agree to disagree. THAT has an impact on players sticking around.....or just continue with criticising and pointing the finger.

In all honesty, I think it's the way that people grow up that is affecting funky. A lot of the people on here would have been more adventurous as kids ie not plugged in to a console/laptop/PC etc......from a very early age. Sucked into a far more advanced world of technologically progressive gaming.
It actually scares me thro work at how many kids under 11 are playing GTA and all those other 18 games.......scared for what the future brings, but I'll stop there as I seem to be going off on one lol

I don't think personally that people leave the site due to clans, tournaments clan games etc etc.

People leave the site for personaly reasons too you know, having a family, meeting new people, moving on that type of thing.

Back before clans there was constantly 100+ members on the site back in the days when there was a tournament like every 3 hours. It was when tournaments became ranked everyone started leaving. Then when tournapoints came in more did.

Micros got brought in and more people left, now micros got kicked out more are leaving and moaning.

The problem is not with the admins who are trying to save the site, it is with the advertising and the lack of forward thinking technology wise. Most other games can be played via social media and on tablets ipads phones etc, this can't. Most other games have adverts on other games to bring new members, this doesn't. This is the main problem, with old members bound to leave at some point in their time here and no new members to replace then there is gonna be a time where the decline is so bad as it is now.

Only problem is I think it is probably too far gone now to repair.

Agree, I have tried advertising on FB but hasn't worked, i rarely use Twitter so i can't advertise there. Problem for me also lately is Java. New members aren't going to read the forum so use latest java available at the time, see security, freezes etc and most would use Chrome, Opera etc and they no longer support Java so may not download browsers to play.

I feel only Nick can save this site, We can advertise all we like but if we did and say.

They come on and find out about Java, How come you can't fix, Owner isn't around, "I'm leaving, False Advertising" and if you add "Need Old Java to play" then thats negative as well.

We need Nick more than ever now i feel, hopefully he is safe and comes back soon or sites going to keep losing numbers

This isn't much but at least people who don't read forum know what is going on and use at own risk etc.

onua still resting up with no reduction on his rank,because his highest was achieved when game was easier.

Only current rank is reduced mate, Highest Rank stays forever, only time it didn't is when Nick did a Factory Reset of all rankings to make ranking harder

His rank has not moved though hes not been on for 5 months.
Accounts that aren't active should be deleted.

its only 13 months when it has been deleted. I prompt janmb every 10 months to log in so he doesn't lose his stats

5) Daily reduction: a small amount is reduced from the top player's ranking.
To prevent player's simply retiring when they are top of the rankings half a point is chopped of their ranking daily.
The ranking is reduced to a residual point dependent on the maximum rank you have achieved. For every point you have scored above 750, the residual point increases by a quarter. Examples, someone who reached 950 would reduce until 800, 850 would reduce until 775, and 754 would reduce to 751.
