I was 8 66 but I've tried a few others. I've tried 3 different browsers, done a system restore which messed me whole laptop up then reset me whole laptop. Nothing worked

I even asked someone else to log in as me and it worked for them

Tried Java 8 Update 31? Had no issues except when browsers wasn't compatible. Opera and Chrome no longer work with Java.

I'll give it another go later

Added security parameters since JRE 7, so all the Java 8 have added security. The critical patches are good but make sure you know what you're downloading before doing so.

Update 31 is the last version before all these extra security additions were added hence why it's recommended and works, they also disabled the SSLv3 from the Java Control Panel (Advanced Tab) . The problem we will have and experience will be when that version become obsolete and inactive. This java version expired on April 14th 2015 so how much longer it works is anyone's guess.

Google Chrome doesn't accept any Plug-Ins not even with the NPAPI, Windows 10 (Microsoft Edge) is the same. Opera and any other browsers similar to Google Chrome have all followed suit (including the new one called Vivaldi) You can use the IE TAB with Google Chrome but I found it to consume more than the necessary amount of CPU therefore increasing the risk to suffer from lagging issues.

Other browsers available: Internet Explorer separate to Microsoft Edge, Waterfox (64 bit java required), Comodo IceDragon, Mozilla Firefox, Maxthon)
