This information is current as of 15th September 2015
Updates to any of the software mentioned may cause issues, please report them below.
The latest version of Java (JRE 8u65)is here : http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Download the offline installer from the above site to avoid the bundled ASK toolbar.
NEVER DOWNLOAD JAVA FROM ANY SITE OTHER THAN JAVA.COM - this is what causes quite a lot of issues, assites like cnet, download.com etc bundle bloatware, sometimes time-delayed, with downloads.
This version has been tested on :
Windows 7 - Intenet Explorer 10
Windows 7 - Intenet Explorer 11
Windows 7 - Firefox 42
Windows 8.1 - Intenet Explorer 11
Windows 8.1 - Firefox 42
Windows 10 - Internet Explorer 11
Windows 10 - Firefox 42
As more testing is done soon this post will be updated.
Java is NO LONGER SUPPORTED by Google Chrome. This is out of funkypool's control, and affects many other java based websites as well.
You can, however, use a Google Chrome Extension called IE TAB to run the game.
Note that this is basically opening an Internet Explorer window as a Tab on Chrome. It therefore requires that Internet Explorer is up to date and has Java enabled.
Find IE TAB here : http://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ie-tab/hehijbfgiekmjfkfjpbkbammjbdenadd
Note also that the default Edge browser on windows 10 does not support plugins, so you need to use one of the above.
As always, if you have any issues, uninstall all versions of Java, ensure your browser is up to date, and reboot before doing a clean install from the links above.

I use the IE TAB the only downfall is the reduction to the screen size but F11 still works plus with you having to treat both pages separately it will log you off the main screen and treat your activity as idle from time to time.
Other than that it works and is Google Chrome.

which browser is the best for funkypool?? opinions?

Thats something that has been asked often and the answer is still the same - whichever one you prefer.
Fact is they all just run the game applet, so its really irrelevant.
Obviously due to the above, if you want to keep it simple, either IE or Firefox are the easiest options for now.

Massively struggling too. I got IE after Chrome stopped allowing Java. It was working for quite a while then I did an automatic update on it and it broke, with the same error that Michael has. Tried installing the newest version above but the same still happens.
I then downloaded Firefox and every time I click to enable Java it automatically closes the whole window.

*** NEW JAVA VERSION 8 UPDATE 65 *** - Available
Works fine with this site and no Security Messages up till yet - so fingers crossed it's resolved that common issue.
https://java.com/en/download/ - Enjoy
* Remove ALL previous versions first using:
Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs etc (If you have any IOBIT software (i.e. Advanced System Care 8, Driver Booster 3 etc) then perform a Powerful Uninstall afterwards - Shred the files)
(Keep a note of where you got the previous versions from whether it be cnet.downloads, filehippo, itechtics should you have any issues - so it's easy to revert back.)
* It works on Google Chrome with the IE TAB as that's what I use - will try on Firefox shortly too) *
Tested on Mozilla Firefox - 17:42pm - 21/10/15 - Straight log on - no issues.

Went through internet explorer, had one good night on it, then ever since then had nothing but problems, screen going white, not being able to shout, and my computer either being behind or infront of the opponents, even if it were running right there's no one in game rooms, its just not worth the effort .
Rather just login on phone and read forum.
