Why has it become the norm to tag the opposition in fixtures. The whole point of putting fixtures on your thread is to make your team aware of fixtures. I already know who I am playing and the chances are high I've already made contact, I do not need the opposition reminding me when it is in fact their player holding up the game.

Can we either revert back to not tagging anyone, revert to tagging your own guys or tagging only once? Some people are ridiculous how often they repeat fixtures.

in advance, anyone who tags me constantly for a wee giggle will be added to a list where they shall be tagged in every post of mine from now till the end of time.

There's a very easy way around it, edit profile and turn forum notifications off

I've never had notifications on and never felt the need 2 so I thought it was a good suggestion.

I'm not having a go at the suggestion, I'm simply pointing out tagging has a function and it's not to repeatedly tell me I have a game. As you point out, being in a clan you can see you have fixtures without being tagged anyway so whats the actual point. Again it's not really being tagged it's the 6 or 7 times a day from the same people.

Yeah I totally agree there's no need at all, some people don't check the forums but offline message or tag once should be all it needs.

Can I suggest that once contact has been made, you politely tell the captain of the clan, and ask him to remove the tag.

This is what I do, and it works fine.

Why tag the opposition though? I could politely ask on six forums every fortnight or captains could just stop the pointless exercise.

It isn't pointless, as tagging people reminds them, or at least lets them know that they have a game.

I prefer to be tagged.

Everyone has their own view on the matter, neither is right or wrong.

I member tag once from the start then IF aware certain players don't appreciate being tagged then just put their name in bold instead, still displays similar.

All you have to request nicely and I'm sure out of courtesy your name will be omitted from member tagging.

Job done....simples.

so you tag the opposition to remind them they have a game but you don't tag your own team? Is that not a bit stupid? Why not tag your own team and leave the reminding up to people's owns teams?

I don't care as I have it turned off, but I see onevisit's point, once people know they have a game there's no need to keep tagging, captains should just tag there own players till they know they have games then there's no need 2 keep doing it after that.

Because I trust my team to look at the thread, or I contact them via other forms of communication.

I treat all the opponents the same, as if they do not check their own threads, so I tag them.

If the opponent messages me to say that he has arranged match, I will untag them.

Which to me seems like a very fair method of doing things

It balances out, don't see the issue really, If you don't wanna be member tagged request not to be. Some teams post their fixtures a little later than others, it's just simply a notification tool.

Member tag once from the beginning then bold the other times, will be up to the oppositions Captain or Vices to follow up any outstanding matches. How it should be.

But the point is ash you tag the opposition, not your own team so notify your own team not everyone else.

And chappy that is idiotic. So teams that get no defaults get member tagged all the time to remind them but your team is ok? That why so many people been k your thread asking for subs? Why not just all agree to not tag, it is absolutely pointless.

When you captain your own team, you can choose to tag or not people, until then, your point is moot.

Also, you say 'so many people asking for subs' from my team, I have had 2 people ask for subs in the last week, for the same person who has gone AWOL, hardly a bleedin crisis.
