Only way to bring in new folk or former ones is to continue with BIGGER tournaments, the reverse one should not had taken place until a set amount of participants had entered in my opinion (25-30), new tournaments are a good idea but when this site is now competing against other ONLINE games such as PS2 and WOT's then until this site goes 3D or intensifies graphics and gameplay it will be left in the dark i'm afraid. Plus they are advertised on television now, IF funkypool wants to boast to be the best online pool game then it has to live up to it.

I'm not dissing this site, I enjoy it, most players (clan members) are sound and appear to be genuine, some try-hards and muppets to be honest but you get that everywhere in life.

I still think show tweaks to the display, graphics, cursors possibly, cue-designs could be incorporated making the member feel affiliated to something than just merely a statistic to the volume of players on here. Players should get something in return for their membership, the 5 cues are old and to be honest outdated and boring. More incentives could be implemented. Maybe even a 12 month membership for the winner of a tournament could bring more players in?

No I don't, it's just an example of the higher competition a site like this nowadays has to face up too.

Ash I want you to realise this now before you put any more time into it. At any one time there are between 10 and 60 people on this site. The amount of people playing this game has declined over time. Unless I can be shown otherwise and despite continuous recommendations, nick, nor the other admin have put any effort into generating new members. A Twitter page was created, it has tweeted 3 times. You can continue attempting to put forward suggestions, and coming up with ideas, but like I said, there has been and I dont expect there to be any improvement. I may sound incredibly negative but I want you to have a reality check. Nothing will change. The properly dedicated members are dropping slowly one by one. I would recommend you stop trying to influence change, stop putting any time into it, until we're shown that admin are doing something to help the site I don't see why you or I should do anything to help it either. Just enjoy yourself while the game is still up and running mate :-)

I fully agree with everything you have said but in the interest of 'trying' mate shouldn't we at least try?

I think this site's had it's 'hay-day', people have moved on to pastures new. I don't think there's actually any way to entice ppl back, the game of pool is seen only as a pub game nowadays apart from when it goes to Great Yarmouth or Sky Sports. My mate is the England A team captain andI know all the players,Gaz Potts (pottsy), Lee Kendall, Liam White, Daz Lightfoot, Adam Davis etc, I were going to see if maybe we could get a sponsor thing going but if it's pointless then what's the poiint?

Tony Latham is my best mates dad and he's the England A Manager, all I had to do was ask.

I would be all for trying to help out the site, committing to help out by finding sources of revenue or new ways to market. But since there has been less and less people playing, there has been less and less movement by admin. I find myself in the situation a parent would be with a child unwilling to try to do its homework. I'm not going to help, unless he's willing to help himself.

So like I said, I think if you try putting effort into this site you'll be let down. I've been around here a very long time, and believe me, trying to help this site is a draining and frustrating experience.

krazyash_07, that would require financial backing, which you won't get. It'd require effort which you won't get. I'm not saying don't try, because by all means, give it your all. I'm simply making you aware, its an annoying task. One which you won't be aided in by the people that should be doing that kind of thing.

All well suggesting fixes, but everyone above with a clan pic beside their name are the problems not the solution.

I beg to differ, I actually think the only reason this site it as busy as it is right now (not very) is because of clan games and players a lot of players would of left a long time ago should there be no clans.

Every game wether it be pool in real life or here is judged by playing the best, you don't go down your local pool hall to play the best do you? No, you join a team. It is exactly the same thing on here the best players play in clans and the ones that want to become the best play in clans, it Is the same with anything.

So... When am I getting my call up to the pros then?

Admin have lives outside of Funkypool just like we do, I don't think its just up to them to try and keep the site going. If Ash wants to try and better the site then let him without trying to put him off. After all, admin have a hard enough job trying to keep the site family friendly, stop rule breaking and basically looking after it. Imagine logging in and going through numerous complaints (most of them probably petty and pointless), dealing with the serious ones, going through forums etc... THEN having to sit and advertise / promote the site!

I understand it may feel pointless without the backing of admin but a lot of people who come here on a daily basis have free time to spare, so why not let them try at least.

I think there's a couple issues majorly impacting the player count here. 1 you could conceivably do something about - the other, not so much.

First - if you Google "online pool games" Funky is not even listed ! Now THAT you can do something about !

The other reason is because I think the world is drifting in general towards hand held devices with 3" screens and I can't even IMAGINE trying to play on a 3" touch screen ! More & more people are spending less & less time in front of a 21" monitor - except for work (which is where I am lol).

The point I try to push lately is to the actual pool players playing in REAL leagues. This games is fairly realistic (as a computer game could possibly be) and if you want to improve your strategy play we have some very savvy players here that will "educate" you. And many (or most) are actually happy to coach people who truly want to learn the finer points of the game.
And THAT may be what the true long term value of a site like this can offer. Kids can play games anywhere for entertainment.

Funkypool was more popular 5+ years ago when 9ball 8ballus and 8balluk were the only game types available, i'm sure there was like 200+ members on at a time easy.

What happened?

personally i don't think there should of being so many changes, simplicity works best + i don't think the admins really bother anymore like they used to but that's just my opinion.

Clans ruined the site really. Was ok the first few seasons and now it's as corrupt as admins and mods. Well it was the last time I was on.
