Now? You've been signed up since October. Surely its not changed that much over the past 2 months. You're also barely out of Newbie status yourself, so the whole rant seems a little hypocritical.

8 years ago people would completely delete their accounts and start with a brand new one. You wouldn't even know if they were going to be half decent before you played them. This is why the ability to reset your account was introduced. I feel it works well, allows people to try for stats that they would otherwise be unable to go for and gives others a bit of a heads up, provided they recognise the name of course.

As previously stated the reduced amount of rank won/lost also helps soften the injustice you're feeling.

With all the measures all put in place, what else would you suggest to improve it? Rather than just having a moan and falling out with people.

one problem squeezy, if two newbies play each other the rank is normal.

for example in an Original Snooker Tournament if a 750 Newbie plays a 650 Newbie if the 650 won they would gain 10-12 points and the 750 would lose same amount.

If a Newbie plays a Non-Newbie then the reduced rank comes into play

don't play newbies but hard to avoid in tournaments but chris posted the idea in tournaments the newbie gains rank but you don't or something like that anyway.

A few reasons as to why people change their stats:
*People wish to start a new challenge i.e. beat their stats from their previous account(s)/before reset
*It gives a better indication of someones form at that given time other than since the creation of the account.
*People might have a target they can only achieve by resetting (e.g. 90% pot success in killer by 500 shots).
*A player has taken time away from the game and wishes to start on a clean slate.

It's all down to personal opinion

Best thing to do m8 is avoid playing the newbies, i am the same but i just don't play them as i only rly play ranked games for yh u guessed it some actually rank lol, tournys i seem to see a lot of them proably cuz its easier to rank up but yh it gets annoying when u keep meeting them n gain nothing other then a little abuse most of the time.

Dunno why they don't just scrap the newbie thing altogether, you can always play friendly games to get use to the game or play as a guest which im sure most do already, hard enough to gain rank in normal ranked games, i hardly ever see a 800+ opponent in any of the 3 main game types, especially 8us its normally dead all the time, 8uk is popular but only cuz of the big pocs i feel, which leaves 9us and 1 fluke undoes like 4 games, have to win at a ratio of 4:1 just to maintain rank let alone gain any, its tough but i make do.

Because then you would lose the newbie adjustment and those who already complain about losing 0.1 rank would go ballistic

True, but it seems like it's causing more trouble than a little, but im not sure i've heard any1 complain about losing .1 of a point, its more of people moaning they don't gain any rank etc..., that's the only reason i avoid them if not then whoohoo easy points but dont like playing to win .1 its kinda boring.

Firstly I have not reset my stats despite getting abuse for it dailly. I requested an old account back and fresh stats come with the territory.

I personally don't see an issue with any player choosing to reset their stats. Its an option of the site so why not allow people to use it.

As lethal_lures said you get the option to play newbies before any normal ranking game and it is entirely your option wether you choose to play these guys or not.

You don't however have this option in tournaments but you are well aware that you may play newbies in tournaments, again your choice to enter.

I personally don't care for rank (thats my excuse) but if you go into games looking for it then there are always some filters that can help ween them out. Plus 700, 750 etc

The biggest thing that annoys me is when people moan about you being a newb when you are about to win or just have.

The best point i've seen on this thread is simply choose not to play them.

Personally i believe rank shouldnt be an issue,As it is only a game but people do like to achieve best in everything and if that means losing lots and gaining very little then that is a problem.Myself am barely adept , 720 area but i enjoy to play anyone.As long as it stays friendly & theres a decent amount of banter then jobs a good un
