Well not sure about anyone else but i have been getting annoyed lately about people saying oh they are the best clan and what not around. Most of them i agree with so anyway i was thinking what about having a clan rank system?

I know snooker has one but it is rather confusing so i would like an easy set up, i have a few ideas on it but would rather here some of yours.

As for the idea, only one i can give you is a points system (e.g. 1000 for 1st, 800 2nd, 500 3rd etc). Alternatively you could also download buddytobuds ranking calculator, even though that is based on funky ranking you could just use 1 frame on Straight rank for instance for the clan.

If its individual players I can't see it working as I'm not a 100% sure if they are but I reckon my ranks are wrong.

Snooker isn't actually using their system yet, because adam is too lazy to get it going.

But it uses a very complicated formula with all kinds of weighted factors that go into it (cup games count more than league games; bonus for clan achievements, etc).

I was going to try and make it simple and easy to understand and keep on track of it all.

I had an idea earlier but im not really to sure on it but like i said i welcome ideas to see if we could get it to work.

What is was thinking was that each clan as a whole starts on the 675 ranking like pool does. You would get points for winning each of your fixtures, so for example say you won two fixtures you could get a 5 points for each win so that would make it 10. For losing the fixture you could get a -2.5 points so if you lost two you would lose 5 ranking points. (Could be used in the cup also.) Then at the end of the season the winner of the league could get say a max of 50 points, all the other clans gain rank even the last placed clan.

For a draw in a fixture each clan could gain a share of the 5 points so would be 2.5 points.

If we kept the winning a fixture rank down it would mean that it could take two - three seasons for a clan to hit the possible Professional status and so on.

As i said that is just a rough idea on it, all other ideas are welcome, i have seen Adams one and it is a very complicated system as you say Seb.

don't forget Jay you need to take rank modification into account as well (over virt, Novice and newbie).

to make it easier you could download buddytobuds ranking calculator from snooker and type in the rankings (e.g. 675.0 for both) do the frame wins then tells you the ranking.

not sure how you would do frame wins but maybe for every 30 points in a fixture is a frame win? or do it in 2 halves? if you want draws as well which it would calculate whoever got to 60 first then the second 60.

For example lets say in first half (4 games so 60 points available) score could be 37-23 to Professionals then lets say final score is 70-50 to Professionals (33-27 in second half to Professionals).

Using Power Snooker (Tournament) for a moment it would calculate 1st half the rankings would be Professionals 680.3 and Team Angry 670.0. For 2nd half score Professionals win that mini session so the rankings would be...

Professionals - 685.3
Team Angry - 665.3

Don't like the idea what so ever. Does not tell you who the best clan is so don't see the point. If this was put in place say 3 seasons ago, snooker squad may well be pro, would that have made us the best team just now? The logic simply doesn't work therefor is pointless.

The biggest problem however is as a league runner you would maybe try attract players to the clans, certain teams don't require help. These clans are probably the ones that would have the highest rank. It's hard enough as it is for teams such as underdogs without labelling the clan with probably a 500 score if this was brought in three seasons ago.

There is no value to adding this system and I can only see flaws. This idea will not last so see little point in starting it.

I like it to be simple and i thought my idea was simple enough.

Not my job to get players into clans, if a clan folds or does not have the right amount of players then that is down to the captain, or for a reason they can not control.

I spend enough time working on the league(s) that i do not have the time to help out other clans in their hour of need. Plus i also captain one of the clans which makes it near impossible to help out.

I respect your opinion on the ranking thing though mate, cheers. As said was only an idea which came to my head so thought their is no harm in posting it.
