We have American members. We are an international site so we are letting our American members know we support the cause.
I'm not American but i am fully supporting SOPA. If the bill passes, the internet will never be the same for anyone.

To summarise, every free website will be closed.

It affects everyone, not just Americans. Similar legislation is being considered in various countries worldwide.

I've renamed the thread so other people can find this.
Yes, I've added the logo to join into a protest on what is a serious threat to the internet. As non-Americans there is not so much you can do (and as only a small percentage are Americans this is why I opted for a banner not a site shutdown as others have done, such as wikipedia).
Funkypool.com site however can be badly affected if the legislation passes though, despite not even being hosted in USA. This can be done just by people passing information or links in the forum, a relevant complaint happening, and the domain name can be withdrawn without due process.

I dont understand how this will affect UK users? So if someone posts an "inappropriate" link or swears on the forum and someone resports this to the correct organisation the site could be shut down alltogether?
I assume thats the case with other websites that use forums aswell?

It can affect any website worldwide, even if it isn't hosted in america.
For example - If I started a thread with loads of links to illegal downloads of films and software, that would be enough to have this site taken offline.
Even using a copyrighted image for my profile picture could be enough, if someone complains about it.

Nobody who visited this site would report it though, or would there be monitoring on all/some websites?
Also do you know once its shut down it stays shut?

funkypool is using a .com extension that is maintained from American registrars, as such it can be seen as an American entity under this law. Therefore the site can be liable under US laws, so they can pull the domain name, sue the site, and order the site to be withdrawn from search engines. (Or that is how I understand it.)
It's more a case of linking to sites that host pirated content rather than swearing etc.
Companies regular search for pirated content. If we're found linking to it, even on an old buried thread, we could be in trouble.

Could the "What Song Are You Listening To" thread fall into that category? as we post music videos from youtube on there

maybe delete the threads with these youtube videos if you see them (for nick by the way)?
surely the funkysnooker/pool based videos are fine though (e.g. Straight Runs, Halfs/Cents etc)?
