So, life is short, and I'm gonna make the change.
The ladder will change to what is described here: http://www.funkypool.com/thread/18323/straight-pool-ladder/2#1267954
In short, instead of having a top step with one player and all the other steps with two players,
1) the top step will have 2 players and the other ones will have 3, and
2) players within each step/level will play each other (and not players from other levels), with promotion and relegation between the levels.
When does this happen?
We are currently in Week 22. The changes will start to occur after this week, which will be Week 23. And by Week 24, the competition will have changed into its new format.
How does it work?
Essentially it will be like a league rather than a ladder. The steps/levels/rungs of the ladder will essentially be divisions.
Each player will have two opponents at a time rather than one, but there will be two weeks to play games (subject to changes if they arise, but I can't see any circumstances whereby I'll ask anyone to play two games in a week).
The top division will have two players. They will play each other, and the losing player will drop down to the second division. The players in the top division will only have one game to play within the two weeks, so this is where you'd ideally like to be
All the other divisions will have three players (except maybe the bottom one, which will have 1, 2 or 3 players). The top player in each division will get promoted, and the bottom player will get relegated. If there is just one player in the bottom division, he/she swaps places with the bottom player in the division above. Otherwise, if there are 2 or three players, that division's top player gets promoted. Players who finish bottom of the bottom division don't get ejected from the ladder/league (but it's an interesting idea for later on!).
How do you decide who finishes where in the table?
A player winning two games out of two finishes top and gets promoted. A player losing both games finishes bottom and gets relegated. I have ways to split ties in case each player wins one and loses one, and those will be revealed later. There will also be problems if players don't get their games played, and I'll sort that out. There could even be cases where two players get relegated from a division, but you guys wouldn't let yourselves get in that position by not playing games
How can I join?
All players currently involved will remain involved (unless they exit via the usual reasons; I get rid of them cos they don't play games, they decide to leave, they get banned, etc). As ever, players can also join at any time. Anyone who joins during Week 22 (i.e. before Monday) will be assumed into the transforming ladder for Week 23 and then be part of the league for Week 24.
It's been 5 days since the fixtures came out and I can't find my opponents
That's all right; you still have 9 days to play them both, which is a better proposition than having 2 days to play one person
So...
Divisions of 3 (except 2 at the top), and two weeks to play two opponents instead of one week to play one.

Yep, lol! You were the better player though, finishing with runs of 10 and 20. My best was a 7... No fouls in the game though, which is odd, and just the one double pot.
Info for nerds:
ritcho had a run of 4 points
clooneman had a run of 2 points
ritcho potted more than one ball (not valid)

Right, this looks like it will be last week of ladder results as we know them, including another very late one from me as I just about make my own deadline. Here we go then, the results for Week 22:
beenjammin (1) 56-6 w_hoolahan (2)
beenjammin stays at Step 1, w_hoolahan stays at Step 2
punkpoet (2) 3-40 scott7a (3)
scott7a is promoted to Level 2, punkpoet is relegated to Level 3
clooneman (3) 18-43 ritcho (4)
ritcho is promoted to Level 3, clooneman is relegated to Level 4
jose_enrique (4) N/S-BYE mattywellie (5)
mattywellie is promoted to Level 4, jose_enrique is relegated to Level 5
sarny_lad (5) N/S-BYE 9ballsniper_ (6)
9ballsniper_ is promoted to Level 5, sarny_lad is relegated to Level 6
lethal_playa (6) BYE
jose_enrique is having computer problems, so I have to find against him here. As for the other fixture, 9ballsniper_ messaged me to tell me of his efforts, whereas I heard nothing from sarny_lad, so there's not much I can do there.
Now, here's what the ladder for Week 23 would look like if we were having a ladder:
Level 1: beenjammin
Level 2: scott7a, w_hoolahan
Level 3: ritcho, punkpoet
Level 4: mattywellie*, clooneman
Level 5: 9ballsniper_*, jose_enrique**
Level 6: lethal_playa, sarny_lad**
Level 7: dgeneratio
dgeneratio returns after a record on 1 win and 2 defeats before pulling out. Now though, the ladder is turning into a kind of league, with two players in the top division and three in each one after that...! Here's what it nearly looks like:
Division 1
beenjammin
scott7a/w_hoolahan
Division 2
scott7a/w_hoolahan
ritcho
punkpoet
Division 3
mattywellie*
clooneman
9ballsniper_*/jose_enrique**
Division 4
9ballsniper_*/jose_enrique**
lethal_playa
sarny_lad**
Division 5
dgeneratio
So...! The upshot of it all is that Week 23 contains just two games, and those two games are between players on the same step of the ladder to see which division they will start in. The winner of scott7a vs w_hoolahan goes up to Division 1 to join the senior ladder-topper beenjammin in an attempt to unperch him, and the loser winds up in Division 2. Similarly, the winner of 9ballsniper_ vs jose_enrique goes into Division 3, and the runner-up goes into Division 4. What it also means that dgeneratio would end up with a bye in Week 23 AND Week 24, but with the way things are shaping up, there could be drop-outs which will see him sucked up a division.
So then, here are the two games in Week 23 (and the real action kicks off in Week 24):
Division 1/2 play-off
scott7a vs w_hoolahan
No previous meetings
Division 3/4 play-off
9ballsniper_ vs jose_enrique
No previous meetings
Everyone else: BYE
Deadline: Monday December 2rd. Good luck!
