Do you think it would make the game of straight better if you had to nominate a ball and a pocket or maybe just a ball as in the real game of straight you do have to nominate balls just an idea as it would then make the game a little harder to get huge runs but the skill factor would be taken up a notch or two what are everyone else's thoughts i don't know if this has been brought up before lol.

im sure it has, i like the idea but im not sure if it can be done on a 2D engine.

i dont see why you cant have nominate ball on a 2d engine maybe not the pocket but the ball should definately be done as it is a legitimate rule in the game

one way it could be done i suppose is to click the ball with your mouse and then click the pocket with a ring maybe?

yeah i mean yahoo.com << they have a pool game and do it effectively with the black ball but thats the only game i know of

yahoo is 2d and yes, it would be possible. Although I think for straight- big runs are already fairly difficult. Only 4 players have hit the cent!
I guess it depends on what a 'big' run is.

Yeah, you're right. It is a rule in straight and I wouldn't be against it. I was thinking more in terms of the actual gameplay here, where I think it would marginally improve straight, but greatly improve 9-Ball.

For 9-Ball, it would only be nominating the ball, since flukes are allowed in 9-Ball. For straight, it would be both.

think this needs to be bought in, fed up of flukes over and over, and would really prove the best from the worst

Definitely not required for 9 Ball. That's not in the rules of the actual game and hopefully never will be!!

Would be a good addition for Straight to make it more realistic. Would also mean that potting two or more balls in one shot no longer resulted in the end of the run providing the nominated ball went into the nominated pocket.

thats it chris im glad somebody else shares my vision mate ... i know it is a rule and it the two in one rule would then become redundant as the other rule is implemented would make for a more fun and hopefully less stressful game for everyone as i get no end of people moaning about the fact two balls go down and end of run

So you actually couldn't go into the pack to try and carry on a decent run? (For me a decent run is anything getting towards 20 )
