I do think its quite hard to judge what sites users of Facebook typically visit, given there are how many millions of them!? So that could cause the odd one to slip through.

Hallelujah! finally got an advert that related to my browsing history! visited Quidco last night and came here this afternoon and had a Quidco advert.

So I can confirm that the adverts are linked into browsing history

but im on my sisters laptop and i get russian brides adverts lol so unless my sis is looking for a russian bride

I was looking online for some clothes, F18 to be precise, and I had the adverts at the side advertising the clothes I had been viewing!

If those sites dont advertise through google adverts then obviously you wont get an ad from them appearing - what you will get is what google adverts deem most 'appropriate', from the advertisers they do have paying them, for you.

ah, so (for example) if you go on to the Nike website, but they don't advertise, you would get an advert from another sports brand, like Adidas?

Something worth pointing out - facebook is an age-restricted site. "Social networks" are also very close "relatives" of dating websites etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's why google is throwing up the dating site ads.

i use browser safari, with Ghostery, which blocks ads. :P
