A french owned jet carrying forty british tourists home from Sicily crash-landed on the border between Northern Italy, France and Switzerland. Legally speaking, where should any survivors be buried?

Correct.
The westcoast of Scotland is renowned for being very rainy. All the locals wear raincoats but holidaymaker Mick has no coat, hat or umbrealla. He sits in a cafe drinking a steaming mug of hot coffee. He reads a newspaper to pass the time but eventually decideds that he better be on his way. To get back to his hotel, he needs to walk accross a large field and through a treeless park yet he arrives back at his hotel bone dry. How has he avoided to get wet?

Right, here's a horrible one...
There is a large fence and a small fence. The large fence is twice the size of the small fence.
A group of men set out to paint both fences. They worked for half the day painting the big fence before taking a break for lunch. Then after lunch, the group split into two halves, with one half continuing to paint the big fence and the other half painting the small fence. At the end of the day, the big fence was finished. There was still one metre of the small fence to do.
The following day, one man came back to finish the small fence by himself, and it took him the whole day to finish it.
All the men worked at the same, constant rate.
Question: How many men were in the original group?

And no guessing, show your work

I guess if 1 meter/1 person=1 day and half of the day was all it took for the whole group to finish the size of the small fence x meters/y persons=half a day.
I know i learned something in algebra 2 to figure out 2 variables but most of the time that comes out with more than one answer. Without the size of the fence in question available it is near impossible.
And though they split in half I find it weird that one team finished before the other, I can only conclude that the original group was odd and they were split unevenly. The loss of one person for half a day lost the first team 1 meter off the other. Meaning 1 meter/ 1 man= half a day
However, this defies the first thing that I said in which 1x/1y=1 or x=y.
Totally stumped I can only conclude that the team is actually fictional and a figment of cloone's imagination

If it took 1 man a day to paint 1 meter , means it took 2 men to paint the other half in half a day ( 2 meter fence ) they were half the group so the group is 4 ?? If that makes sense ? lol

Makes sense but unfortunately... wrong

full group did 2/3's of the big fence in half a day
half the group did 1/3 in the other half of the day
half the group did all but 1 meter of small fence in half a day
1 man did 1 meter in next whole day
so (trial and error)
if the big fence was 6 metres the small fence would be 3 metres
1 man, 1 metre in 1 day (on the second day) would leave 2 metres to do in the second half of the first day on the small fence meaning you would need 4 people to do that
if 4 is half then the full group is 8, 8 men do 4 metres in half a day, 4 men do 2 metres in half a day
The big fence is 6 metres
The small fence is 3 metres
and there were 8 men in the group
half the group did 1/3 in the other half of the day

full group did 2/3's of the big fence in half a day
half the group did 1/3 of the big fence in the other half of the day
But 1/3 of the big fence is equal in area to 2/3 of the small fence
So half the group could do (and indeed did do) 2/3 of the small fence in the other half of the day.
Therefore there was 1/3 of the small fence left to do, and it took one man a whole day to do it.
Half the group can 2/3 of the small fence in half a day.
1/4 of the group can 1/3 of the small fence in half a day.
1/8 of the group can 1/3 of the small fence in a whole day. (Less manpower means more time.)
So the man who finished the small fence was 1/8 of the group, and there were 8 men in the group.
And Zante is right
