^^ Premium settings should apply to your account no matter what computer you are using. If they're not, stick a post on the premium forum and Nick will take a look.
I might have misunderstood before - do you mean that other fully ad-funded sites don't mind ad-blockers? Thats like running a shop but teling your customers it doesnt matter if they pay. Might be a great atmosphere for a week or two, but not very sustainable
I only use two other ad-supported forums regularly, and the very mention of an ad-blocker on either earns an instant ban. Funkypool/Snooker have always chosen to explain rather than be brutal about it!

I just pointed out that you are very different from the majority of sites when it comes to this particular aspect.

Vendetta's is widescreen, all ad's down the left are when you have widescreen, when in 4:3 aspect mode like myself, you get a smaller ad in top right corner

can i ask you all a question do you have it on normal or widescreen setting?
i have it on widescreen and i don't see these ads, i see jackpot, deal or no deal and thats about it, possibly couple more but not like the ones ive seen above me.
and true alex ive never seen an unsuitable ad on snooker.

That's correct.
As an ad-financed site, it's not you who lose from users not actually viewing the adverts - it's the advertisers.
Sure, in the long haul, in the great circle of life etc etc and so on and so on, that means the advertisers get a harder time and can spend less money advertising, but that's far too indirect to ever really hurt the sites.
That's built on the incorrect assumption that the advertisers' income = your income.
At first glance, that might seem like a sensible assumption, but it is fortunately not the case at all.

The advert displayed has now been removed. It was part of a trial I ran some time ago but under some conditions it still showed. Apologies for any problems. I have nothing against dating sites in general, but that advert was not very professional.
Unfortunately this isn't correct, janmb, if adverts aren't shown the site does not generate any revenue. Some sites may not be worried about advert blockers but a lot are. Those sites may have different type of adverts or maybe advertising is not a significant part of their income.

I would reccomend setting up a donation pot through paypal, i understand a lot of sites do that. I mean, i'd be willing to chip in a few quid now and then..

So what you are telling me, is that the event that actually triggers income for funkypool is not people downloading the ads from the server, but actually clicking on them?
In the good old days, this was not so. Ads released revenues based on either a fixed, monthly rate per graphical area, typically a factor of monthly hits on the HOST site (not the ads themselves). A second, very common setup for for ads to trigger revenue based on the number of times they were downloaded. Pretty much the same thing, just slightly different implementation.
If you are now left with the single trigger of people actually visiting the advertisers' sites, through clicking on ads provided from funkypool.com, I clearly see the logic better - but all the more a pity since this is of course a change for the worse - for everyone involved, including funkypool as a hosting site yourself.

I had always thought this was very clear due to the regular in-game announcements reminding users to click on the adverts, and that they open in a seperate window etc.
That does show we have been approaching this from different viewpoints. I suspect in this day and ages very few, except the very high-hit sites, can generate any income just by displaying adverts. Back when I ran the wrestling site at just under 100000 avg unique hits per day yahoo's ad's were 0.001p per hit, and 0.1 per click. £1 a day didnt exactly pay my wages

In the end of the day, accepting/exposing yourself to ads is just another method of payment. Which is fine.
But it's important to view ads as a parallel to donations, which are implicitly voluntary in nature, rather than forced payments - simply because that's how the mechanism of advertising actually works - whether one likes it or not.
"Reminding" players to click on said adverts almost implies this being an obligation though - which frankly borders the rude.
A "please do this to support our site" encouragement on the other hand would be more acceptable.
