Its been years since I have seen, a photo of you,
To put a face to the thoughtfulness of the things that you do.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, I'm a sucker for that,
It's like the worlds been struck out, and I'm the last one to bat.

I've had a shiny past, colourful in most ways,
Where the little police men, would chase us day from day.
But strangely enough, there was a girl, somebody built me from small,
From a boy of eighteen, to the twenties I grew tall.

Here I would linger, when the summer ran hot,
A time years ago, that I shamefully forgot.
But its funny how one person, can stick at a task,
To make sure that a friendship of hers, really would still last.

Although I look back now, and though I am still young,
A dear friend here with me, makes it feel like its begun.
We start from the marker, we pick up from where we left,
This woman has a mind that I will never forget.

You know who you are, my life you do know,
It's like a distant love, that belongs to us so.
My nan once said, just before she had died,
A sublime little sentence, that did make me cry.

She said 'Love finds us all, it's just a matter of time,
I waited thirty-two years, until I found mine.
Keep yours eyes peeled Steve, she may be oh so near,
A woman that you'll love and cherish - a girl you'll hold so near.
